anyone has their Nexus 7 shutdown by itself?

tried everything before that and nothing worked. That worked. Good enough for me. Nexus still running perfectly after that.

Someone please assist me.

So, I haven't had any problems for two years, but now, I plug in my Nexus 7 (2012), let it fully charge, and I can turn it on while plugged in.

Then, it starts up, but, it then shuts down on its own after several minutes of starting up.

It should be fully charged, however, many times, it is not (upon start up).

I also have to hold down the power button for like 10 seconds for it to actually start up.

I try to do a factory reset on it, but when I press "Erase Everything" - nothing happens (and, I believe it is at this point that the device just shuts down).

Other times, I have started it up, with full power, just for it to shutdown on its own, anyway.

What can I do?

Frankly, it sounds like the battery is shot.

But you could leave it plugged in and boot into Recovery mode and clear the system cache, and also perform the Factory Reset there. Then unplug it and see if it boots normally and stays on.

Hey All I have finally fixed my Nexus 7 .Earlier It was just next to impossible to use it as it always used to shutdown within a few minutes.
So here is the trick that worked for me.
1) Cleared the cache partition and wiped Factory data
2) Flash the whole thing directly with the latest Factory Image 5.1.1 ( Make sure you get the correct image)
