Anyone Have and A9 yet?

What do all those Kernel and build numbers mean?

I'd transcribe all those too, but it's so awkward flicking between screens.

I honestly don't have the screenshot function. My last phone was a One M7. I'm not new to this. I know how I SHOULD be able to do this, and how long to press the keys etc.

Do you have the screenshot option in your system notification toggles? I expected it to be there, but it isn't. There's no "edit" button to add it either.

To take a screenshot press the power button & volume down button at the same time..... Happy screenshotting.

I tried posting a screenshot I took of you're post but the app force closes when attempting to add the screenshot. Make sure you use 2 fingers or it won't work. Believe me..... It works this way. Just takes getting used to.

It really doesn't work. :-\

There's no screenshot icon in my notification toggles (which annoyingly I also cannot customise).

Have you fired up the camera app yet? Perhaps you have to complete the initial setup of the camera before it will take a photo of your screen.

I have the UK model which has less RAM and storage than the US model and uses different LTE bands, so perhaps this screenshot thing is another weird difference.

I'm in the UK too - Bolton, England.

I took a photo of that Kernel/build screen. I'll try and upload it to here.

Nothing is ever straightforward... The Android Central app crashes when I try to attach the photo.

Can't post a link to the photo in my Dropbox, until I've made ten posts here... Ughgjghgjghghhghhhggfghh.

p.s. I too, thought that firing-up HTC's own camera app might have somehow triggered the screenshot function into life - it didn't!

Can't post a link to a jpeg in my Dropbox, it seems.

I give up.

I'm on Google+ if anybody can help me: justinionn

I got it working. After a factory reset and many more hours Googling, I got it working.

I tried pressing volume down and the power button WHILE ON A CALL... Why this would make a difference, I don't know...

Suspiciously, the System Setup icon was in the notification list, after I did this.

Anyway. Doing this while on a call, appears to have jolted the feature into working all the time now.

That was SO frustrating. I hope that anybody else with the same problem finds this answer when searching.

Glad to hear you got it working for you eventually.

Im looking to get the 32gb unlocked version of the a9 shipped to me. Im in England, will it still work over here on three network? Something to do with the LTE bands. Also is it worth changing my m8 for the a9?

No I'm afraid it won't work. UK Ltd bands are 3 7 and 20. Last time I checked the HTC US website it said the US model doesn't support those bands. I nearly bought one when I was in the states a couple of weeks ago.

No. You'll need LTE band 20 (800 MHz) for use on Three network, which the US model does not support.

I almost bought one when I was in New York this month until I did some research. It's annoying and baffling to say the least.

I'm not sure I would upgrade from an M8 to either of those phones.

The camera is supposedly much better on the A9 (having never owned an M8 I can't vouch for that) and there's that really frickin sweet fingerprint sensor that unlocks your phone faster than an iphone 6s. And then there's Marshmallow. But the M8 should be getting Marshmallow in an update. And its thinner which makes it nice to hold and look at.

The M8 has better sound (stereo Boomsound speakers - although output from the jack performs almost as well in tests), better screen/body ratio (A9 bezels are massive and make the phone almost as big as an M8 despite the smaller screen), and a larger battery. Better chipset too (Snapdragon 801 vs 617).

The M9 I don't know much about but I understand it to be nowhere near different enough from the M8 to warrant an upgrade, from what I've read about it.

Basically unless you're desperate for a better camera and/or fingerprint sensor there isnt much point upgrading from an M8 to an A9 or M9, as far as I can see.

i had the same experience while trying to take a screen shot, by accident when i turned the phone to landscape as opposed to portrait, the screen shot worked so try that and maybe it'll work for you.
