Anyone have "hey google" option in assistant?

ok, so while watching the yankees game, i just saw a commercial for hey google and that it can be downloaded in the app store. i actually found it under google assistant. downloaded it and tried saying hey google, it didn't open, but if you say ok google and ask it ti open hey google it does something. i'm assuming it would work better with google home devices (i don't own any) so i wouldn't know. just figured i'd let you guys know that it's there in the app store

Thanks. The assistant app in Playstore is for phones that don't have the assistant built in. The S8/S9 have assistant built in. The app does nothing on these devices.

That is not correct. I had an S8 and now have an S9+ on Verizon. I can and have been using Google Assistant fine for almost 2 years on both devices combined.
