Anyone have regrets getting the Edge over the regular version?

well .. i only hope that we will be seeing more applications compatible with the edge screen .. currently .. its honestly useless .. only contact short-cut !!! but i do keep my hopes up ..
lets wait a see ..

Looked at both phones at bestbuy and could not justify the $100 price increase for the edge. Played with a bit but could not see any advantage of having the edges.

Samsung knew they could get away with the $100 increase for the whoa factor of everyone wanting the edge. Bet once edged devices are more mainstream there'll be a minor increase in price if any.

It's does have a wow factor but I need to see it function doing something the regular s6 can't do.

While people are talking about in hand feel being better for the S6 than the Edge naked, no one has mentioned that the Edge is slightly narrower than the S6, so in a case it is slightly easier for me to grasp firmly in my (admittedly small) hands. I love the bezel-less "infinity pool" look, but I have showed pictures and videos on my phone to a number of lay people, none of whom commented on the curved screen. Not a single one of the Edge specific features is useful to me except for the Contacts, though the Edge has not given me any trouble either. It is extremely hard to justify paying an extra $100 unless you looked at it and immediately thought to yourself: "Want." In the latter circumstance, it is easy to justify paying $100 extra for a phone used on a contract that costs around $2000 over 2 years - $100 is a dinner out, or a nice pair of pants, or a ticket to a show. I love it and would have definitely regretted it if I did not pay extra and instead got a phone with the same boring look.

I know developers are creating apps that utilise the edge of the phone , you will see things like volume sliders etc soon.

While that's true, I wouldn't use the promise of something useful down the line to make a buying decision today. The gesture to activate the tickers is not that easy to register - it is much easier to just press the home button to see clock/weather/notification info on the lock screen, and just an additional fingerprint register to access info on a home screen widget. We will see what people come up with that is truly useful and not just an alternative way to get to something that would be just as easy to get to some other way.

I upgraded to a black S6 Edge 64Gb yesterday and have no regrets ☺

How do you S6 Edge owners feel about the screen brightness, and glare problems? Or are they even problems at all? I'm leaning towards buying the Edge over the S6 right now.

I was worried about both before purchasing and rest assured it's not an issue. My screen is brighter and more vibrant than my HTC M8. I almost never notice a glare either, even when outside. (And I have OCD so that kind of thing would bother me like crazy if it was an issue ;) )

When you do notice the glare, is it bothersome? Also, is it easy to make accidental touches on the edges when reaching from one side to the other using one hand?

Can't say I've even noticed the glare to be honest. No issues with accident touches either. The curve is very subtle.

I was thinking about this yesterday: is it a good marketing decision to bring both out?

Whether people will admit it or not, you will always have pangs about whether you chose the right one. If they were the same price or not. $100 is going to seem less of a barrier in a few weeks or months.

It must affect the 14 day exchanges carriers promise, ie a lot more of them, though anyone who wants to change back again would pay through the nose.

Anyway, just musing. Maybe Samsung will officially unload more devices by giving two versions of the same phone, even though many will get returned.

<- Test.

So here's my honest opinion. I got the edge knowing the features were a gimmicks and liking how different it looks. However after some time the novelty wore off and the compliments get stale. Now with the phone being so uniquely unconventional in design, you have a few limitations on accessories and a phone that to me feels not as good in hand as the regular s6.

If I could go back I would have spent the extra $100 on the 128GB regular. I don't hate the edge, I just prefer the feel in hand of the regular s6.

TL;DR - Get the edge if you don't mind losing ergonomic design for a talking piece and flashy phone. It's perfect for bragging or having something that is extremely unique, but not practical.

I'm at a month now and no regrets. I switched from iPhone 5, and tested the S6, Edge, i6 & 6+ at the ATT store. This phone felt the best in my hand vs the S6, so I got it in the 64gb. The S6 hardware is what pulled me to this side.

I am a huge fan of the feeling of the edges when doing swipe gestures. Its a totally new feel and adds to the experience for me.
