Anyone have ringtones suddenly changing?

I had uploaded an mp3 file of a vintage phone because Samsung's choices were largely awful.

It worked for a few weeks and then suddenly the ringtone reverted to one of Samsungs.

I tried to reload the vintage phone mp3 file and got a message stating that the file was in the wrong format, so I chose the least obnoxious Samsung ringtone option.

Then suddenly it changed to another ringtone.

If you have had this problem and successfully fixed, please let me know what you did to fix it.

Look at the ringtone - before changing it. If it's gibberish, not the name of the file or ringtone you had selected, the file itself is gone. (Use .mp3 files. They have to be valid .mp3 files, you can't just rename a .wav file to .mp3.)

I do use mp3 files. That's why I found it mysterious why I was told it was the wrong kind of file - especially when it had worked for a few weeks. I know not to use a wav file.
