Nah dude... I know Cyan has no 4G :P

I Flashed Stock back on... I've been running all Roms haha

I dont like being tied to one system

But since im on stock i want to use 4G

I have a good MAC

I have updated software for it...

IDK why it just keeps scanning forever...

turn off 4g. delete the file found under data/misc/wimax (mac adress).tree.xml. when you restart 4g that file re-generates. this should fix it.

worst case scenario -- you have to go back to step one and load the pc36img all over again because that will reflash all radios correctly.

F*** THAT...

I'm not starting over again... that krap is like my own personal hell... I'll try the xml first...

Just Checked that file in Astro under data and nothing is in there?

i use root explorer.

data>misc>wimax>############.tree.xml <-----delete that file

the # wil be your mac address.

and i feel you on the starting over bit. i used the start over method before i knew about the the method above.

Root Explorer is pretty nice...

thx for that tip...

I deleted and I turned 4G back on now...

If it doesnt find a signal it should now say Scanning right?

Before it was just stuck on Scanning

Had the same problem (scanning constantly but had a good MAC) and I tried 100 different ways to fix it. What worked for me and 100's of other people is to use whitslack's method.

No idea what that is bro...

XDA / EVO 4G / android development

Look for a thread started by "whitslack" it will be titled "how to start over: fully rooted stock". Should be on the first page but might be on second. When you get to step 7 just flash any ROM you want. This is the method I used, Damage used, Treve used ... it works assuming you have a good MAC. Someone mentioned it earlier in this thread (nick?). Flashing the image fixes your 4G

K But i already Started over... I haven't Flashed anything other than Stock and Cyan since i Re-Rooted... soooooo When i get home in a 4G Area I'll attempt to sync

im not beat for starting over again... that was BS my first time around...

I started over last night and it was terrible. It took like 4 hours to get RUU to work right for me. I NEVER wanna do that again. It's definitely not as easy as the webOS doctor.

As long as you already have the engineering boot image, whitslack's fix takes all of 2 minutes. His thread is REALLY misleading with the title. The thread I'm pointing you to is assuming you're already rooted, and have the engineering boot image. Flashing the image puts the proper radios on your phone. I tried toasts method of flashing just the radios and it was a no go for me. Tried all the other silly crap too. I can't tell you how many times I updated my PRL following all those threads to fix 4G.

All you do is download the new image, flash it, then go into recovery and flash any ROM you want. Works like a charm and is quick and painless.

The method I'm referencing doesn't involve RUU, hence the quick and easy part.

Like I said, whitslack's thread needs to be renamed as It's terribly misleading.

yes, whitslack's method takes the hard way and makes it the easy way when deleting the mac adress file doesn't work.

Good info to have. If I do have the 4G problem I will use this method. I just feel his pain with starting from scratch was all I was saying. I wasn't trying to discourage someone from using the method you stated. I apologize if it came across that way.

Nah dude i went thru starting over last week... its a PITA

So having to do it again because i missed a step in flashing the radios would kill me

I hope its just the XML file Ohhhh please let it just be that...

Hey look on the bright side... atleast you don't have a bad MAC ... heard that's a pain in the @$$ compared to flashing a little image :)
