Anyone here move from the Note 8 to the S9 Plus and not sure about it?

So far my battery life is better than my Note 8. It took a day or so to settle after the software update (which improved the cameras a lot). Now the battery life is awesome.

Same here. Battery life is significantly better so far, and that was my biggest gripe about the Note 8.

I think the S9+, in most cases, has better battery life than the Note 8. It has a bigger battery and Oreo appears to manage energy better than Nougat. The Note 8 will eventually get Oreo but I hope it doesn't lose the ability to assign individual notifications to contacts like has happened to the S9.

I had Oreo on my Note 8 and it didn't improve battery life. I suspect that it's the size of the battery and the better efficiency of the newer processors. I didn't use individual notifications to contacts so can't tell you about that though.

I think the S9Plus performs better, at least it does than my Note 8. However, I'm back on the Note 8 for now. Don't get me wrong I really like this phone, but the S9Plus for me has been more efficient, smoother, no quirks, better photos off the bat with straight auto shots, to name a few. If TMobile would just not have a down payment requirement... grr.

It's a good preview of how awesome the Note 9 will be.

I ended up making the switch and returning the Note 8 w/GearX ear pieces the last day that I could (day the S9+ came out). So far I'm thrilled with the battery life, which was my main gripe with the Note. Everything else is very nice. I don't notice much of a performance difference and haven't yet had a chance to use the camera much.

Not thrilled that they launched (T-Mobile) with the February Security update despite a day of release software update.

I'm returning my black Note 8 for a black S9+. I'll still have my Orchid Grey Note 8. It makes more sense to have one of each than two Note 8s.

...at least that's how I'm rationalizing it.

Lol yea. Don't worry - I've gone back and forth a few times but for various reasons. Right now - have the Tmobile Note 8. Returned the Tmobile S9Plus ONLY because I want the down payment back for now. Had one through Verizon zero down, but didn't realize how complicated it would be working that out with my other two lines and all accessories under TMobile, so I ended up returning that, back to my Tmobile Note 8. For now. I'm awaiting the credit for the Tmobile S9Plus return/down payment - hopefully I'll get that this week as it delivered back to Tmobile's return center today.

I switched too, also in TMobile, and so far I'm pretty happy. Surprisingly my 4g download speed has roughly doubled just from switching phones. 40~mb/sec to 100+. That's significant.

One gripe though, I can't clear notification badges by long pressing an app anymore. That feature is gone. Very annoying as some apps, Facebook messenger being the biggest offender, tend to have badge counters that don't properly reset. This is infuriating, but the overall performance of this phone is so good in every other regard that I guess I'll just wait and see if Sammy brings it back. Fingers crossed.
This is they one thing I'm missing... The long press options from the Note8 home screen. I may try and find the APK from the Note and load it up

I will miss the pen until the note 9 but I barely use it and I really noticed a better performance and slightly better battery life, speakers and biometrics (better position fingerprint scanner, faster fingerprint scanner, intelligent scan for faster iris/face unlock). It also has a better sound overall, I have the iconX (2018) and volume was so low with the Note 8, with the S9+ it is louder and clearer, the same with the car and a small bluetooth speaker that I have in the shower and could barely hear with the note 8. The display looks slightly better, It has a lot of other small improvements that make the experience better.

The camera is "meh" compared to the note 8 for me but the performance, speakers and better sound alone are worth it.

EDIT: forgot to mention, signal with T-Mobile is also better, could be a reason why battery is slightly better as well. For internet in the areas I got 60-70 mb download with the note 8, I get 100-110 mb with the s9+

You know I hadn't considered that with the signal as to why I'm getting so much better battery life on my s9 plus than my note 8. My signal is my better on my s9 plus than it was on the note. Your right.

I still have the Note 8 and I got the S9+ on one of my other lines just to keep the JOD, and it's the best decision ever since I'm not trading in my s9+ when the Note 9 comes out, instead I'm doing it through the Note 8. The battery life is amazing where the signal is strong, and this phone's upgraded LTE radio made my download speeds double. Almost beats my Xfinity speeds. I'm currently gambling in Lake Charles, and even though the signal is weak, this s9 is literally still really fast in download speeds. I also love the Samsung Keyboard for the first time in the past 4 generations of Galaxies I've owned, way more accurate and no lags or bugs in it when there's typos. On the note 8 I had to get the Google keyboard, and now I'm all stock and loving it.

Tmobile told me that zero down was for those with 3 or more years service. I was at 2. Grr
A couple of you mention paying a down payment for the S9+ but my understanding was that there was no down payment if using Jump on Demand. Does jump on demand now require a down payment?
Also so did get the Note 8 zero down but they were running a special at the time
I believe they announced last year sometime that the zero down JOD will be a thing of the past come August. Not trying to bring anyone down. This topic came up around the time of the Note8 launch. The Note9 will most likely have a down payment for everyone. I'm in that boat as well since I'm back on the yearly Note cycle. We'll see as we get closer.

It was my understanding that tmobile wants to keep the device payments to no more than 30 a month. That's why the down payment is needed now. So take the price of the phone and divide by 24 months. If it's more than 30 expect a down payment. Now this doesn't take into account if they are running a promotion or something else. But generally speaking I believe this is how they come up with a down payment.

how good are the speaker's of S9+ compared to Note 8....vast difference or not much...I had Axon 7 and loved their speakers

not sure about the axon 7 but s9+ compared to note 8 the sound on s9+ is a lot better and louder

I returned my Note 8 on Sunday for the Blue S9 Plus and don't regret it one bit. Battery life on the Note 8 left a lot to be desired and I only uses the S Pen maybe once every couple weeks.

Not to mention that Blue Coral was calling my name. I am a weak weak man. But I am a happy weak man lol.

I returned my note 8 on jod after using the my gs9 olus for a few days. Size is better, battery is better, speakers (with dolby ON) are the loudest i have heard, 845 doesnt heat up at all, phone stays cool all the time, much snappier and the big part all those little hickup and stutter/lag when scrolling in app like fb, twitter, groupon, etc elimimated. This is the first samsung phone which in all apps scrolling does not skip frame lag or stutter.

Note 8 screen still brighter, do miss the s pen
