Anyone in regret yet ?

That is not quite true. Your app purchases are tied to your google account. When you get a new phone and sign in and go to downloads in the marketplace you will see all your purchased apps and can just click on them and redownload them.

Phewwwww, thank you! :D

I was really getting cold feet the closer it got to Friday. I loved my Pre, but I always want the latest and greatest. Well, we left to go on vacation yesterday, and drove 10 hours. The whole time, my wife drove, and I "played". I don't regret it one bit. This phone (in my opinion), runs circles around the Pre. My wife likes it so much, I think she wants to replace her Pre now :)

Sorry, my wording was poor. When I hard reset my Pre and then set it back up, WebOS downloaded all my apps for me... no effort on my part whatsoever.

Ah gotcha, yeah in that respect the synergy with Palm is a little more automated.

My only regret so far is that last night I saw a Best Buy ad offering free $40 Bluetooth headset with EVO purchase. If I'd waited until tonight I could've gotten $20 in Reward Zone coupons, too. Oh well. That's what you pay to be first with the new toys.

Apple doesn't make crazy money on iTunes, they make the money on their devices.

I don't know where you get your info, but you're about as wrong as you could possibly be. In 2007 Apple had net revenue of $2.5 billion (yes, with a "B") from the iTunes store (not the App Store), and $1.7B in the first half of 2008. Apple is the largest music retailer in the country, probably the world.

Through early 2010, Apple had sold some 10 billion songs on iTunes. Even if 70% of that revenue goes to the record labels, the remainder is pretty darn substantial.

I believe it is only the gameloft games, that you can only get 1 copy of, and it its because, I believe, you have to go through their website to get the games... Fortunately, not all good games are through gameoft... UNfortunately, most of gameloft's games are awesome games...

I had the iPhone for the past 3 years. I'm currently using the 3GS. I haven't literally returned it yet bc Best Buy just opened but I plan on it. The other major thing that annoyed me was that my typing was much worse on the evo than the iPhone.

I have no understanding of this thinking other than some people simply can NOT deal with change. 3 years on the iPhone says it all. I have an iPod touch and the Evo is much easier to type on. Holy moly --- and with ShapeWriter or other app it flies like the wind. I've typed on the iPod touch for months and I snapped right in on the Evo - so simple, bigger screen, same corrections, etc...

The phone is unbelievable in so many ways. I was tired of the lack of apps on my palm pre and the technical specs were dated...and I have big hands, surf the web and watch videos...and I live in a 4G area...and with sprint you can update after one year. So, it seemed to awesome. I have to say as cool as it is, I have some regret about losing my physical keyboard (never had a touchscreen one before)...which in time I may get faster with (I love the voice texting though and I use a swype like app too). But also, the biggest thing, is webos was beautiful fast and I was doing 5 things at once typically, switching back and forth...flicking away what I didn't need. This, pseudo-multitasking where I can't get to what I need easily and things continue to run in the background you don't want...is frustrating and a battery killer (I used automatic task killer). There's so many things I love about the phone, truly. I already bought the seidio innocase, the screen guards from seidio, 16gb class 6 microsd, and an 1800mah battery from amzer. I do love this phone. Its just a radical switch for a former webos user. I was sick of the pre device, but loved the os. I hope froyo and gingerbread make leaps with this area. Speaking of LEAP by HTC, it'd be nice if all the running apps did something like LEAP.

Anyway, I 90% am blown away...10% have regret. In a few months, when I am fully adjusted and froyo with sense is out...I am sure I won't look back.

I'm loving my Evo and I can say this truly is the best phone I've ever had and I don't know how I used that little screen on that little turd (Pre) for a year is beyond me, no regrets here! My battery life and wifi connection is very good.

yeah, what he said.

Interesting poll about a phone that's been out for 5 or 6 days, that you can return in within another 3 weeks, at no cost to you....just saying.

Regrets usually come later....just saying.

I came from the Pre as well. While I like WebOS, this EVO is awesome. There is still a learning curve, but not as bad. Week one about over and most functions are becoming about normal. My Pre was my first smartphone, and it took two weeks to get the feel for. I had to turn on the old pre to find an old text message, and already it looks like a antique...lol

So far I love it.. No way it's going back unless some thing tragic happens to the OS or the hardware just flat out stops working (I have the insurance for my own stupidity) With Sprints 30 day return policy and they are willing to refund you every penny you spent, You should give it at least a few weeks. I like Android (After 2 years on an iPhone AT&T plan) I like that you can adjust and play around with your device and TRULY customize and multitask on the phone. It's great... I really found Android very easy to use.. Some people who think it's hard or confusing makes little sense to me. I get along great with Android... No regrets from me.. I love it more and more every time I pick it up.

I can not wait to get mine, the first one got lost in the mail:mad:, hope no one can activate it. I belive this one will be waaaay better and fun than Webos.

Damn !! My EO kicks ass ! Battery life is not all that bad....especially if you use a Task/App Killer....buit this phone outperforms the Palm Pre that I had for 1 Year. Dont get me wrong, Pre is a rockin little phone...does a LOT of stuff....but it cannot math the Androis OS...tons of Apps, many many good ones....and itsa BLAZING fast phone....faar better than my overclocked, patched Pre ! After 1 week of EVO use....Im KEEPING it !! I still have my Pre, and its active on a secondary line!

I don't know what you're doing (or not doing), but my EVO battery life is WAAAAAY better than my Palm Pre.

This phone ROCKS!

Agreed - same here..

And to the orig post:

no push notifications wtf you talking about? I have push IMAP , push Exchange, SMS, Instant / on demand 2 way video chat with QIK...

Ive had just about every Sprint phone out there including the pre, and I have to say that Android is the only platform that really lets you take advantage of ALL that sprint really makes available to you. Even without rooting the apps in the market are soooo perfect for taking care of those not so ethical things we like to do..i.e. downloading music, so forth so on. I really only use GMail anyways the sync is instant and because the EVO gives you access to a VPN I dont see any other email issues all in all the phone is huge, its the hottest new thing, and even if it did suck...i wouldnt say it out loud....

About battery life, it's great on this phone. better than everything in it's class except for iphone, which really isn't in the same class.

The only thing, and it's a listed bug, is that the sendor turns of the screen even when using bluetooth/speakerphone.. it's really annoying when trying to enter codes on the keypad when navigating automated systems.. but i've adapted.

As for what some people said. you don't have to download a damn thing really. The phone comes with a music player, a video player, browser, phone app, etc. But unlike the iphone, which doesn't allow devs to replace stock apps with inferior/superior alternatives, Android makes no such rules. They understand that they can't possibly anticipate everyones need's and allow other apps. Their music player is passable, but I immediately found 5 other music playing apps all with their own merits, and maybe soon i will find a perfect one.

I am sorry EVO didnt work for you. I suspect you didn't manage your expectations, and like all of us coming from other platforms realized after about 2 hours that it's still just a phone. I can say coming from an iPhone 3Gs us that you should give the phone a week to truly get an idea how the phone works in real usage.
