Anyone in regret yet ?

Hey, the OP prefers iTunes. That says a lot about what he's looking for. For some people, simple is better than powerful. iTunes and the iPhone are perfect for those people. Those who want power and flexiblity are probably better served by Android. But preferring to be told how to use your phone, as opposed to deciding for yourself, is no crime.

Aside from that, the OP's been using one device for 3 years, and seems surprised the Evo doesn't work exactly like his last phone. I mean, really, in 5 hours of playing around with it he can't type as fast as on the phone he's been using for 3 years, so clearly the Evo is no good.

I have a hard time believing anyone would actually want iTunes. But, that's my opinion, and it is clear that others have a differing opinion. I love the Evo and I am glad that I gave up the Pre. This phone has been phenomenal for me so far.

Good luck to those of you returning your Evo's. Too bad for those who won't get one for awhile because of those who got them and returned them a day later.

BTW, this was written on my Evo. They keyboard is a joy to type on.

Ha. These regret posts amuse me. Makes me wonder if they aren't just troll. This is my first smartphone, but I have a lot of experience with iPhone and webOS. It is totally exhilarating to have this much freedom on a device this powerful. Battery is crazy good today after a few charge cycles....I will have no problem getting through they with it.

You guys need to go back and read the whole thread before you run your mouths. Thx

Does it really need to be so hard to put some music from iTunes on the Evo using a MAC ???? WTF google

I'd blame Apple more than Google. Last year Palm made it so the Pre would sync natively with itunes and apple kept updating itunes to block it. It was a cat and mouse game for a while and finally Palm gave up.

Does the entire world have to revolve around iTunes? There are better programs out there. WTF people!

Why not just drag and drop the music? Where are your music files stored on the Mac?

My Mac won't pick up my evo. I tired disk space mode and every other mode it has.

Well if your whole music collection is in iTunes than yes it must revolve around it.

Sorry but OP is oblivious. Use the phone. For more than 10 minutes. Everything you're complaining about is there.

But your music isn't IN iTunes. iTunes is just a big index of all your music. The music files themselves are still just files on your hard disk, and very easy to move and copy using standard OS commands. There are at least a dozen programs available (on the PC at least, not sure about Mac, but there must be some) that will read and index and control all those files.

As others have mentioned, though, if you bought DRM'd files from Apple you're stuck with Apple products. That's not Google's fault, it's Apple's.

Download doubletwist problem solved.

Imo itunes is the single best reason not to get an iPhone

You clearly have no concept of who buys the iPhone. Itunes is exactly the reason people buy the iPhone. It does everything they need, which is why I'm assuming the OP is having such a hard time adjusting to the Android OS. There's a reason the iPhones marketshare is three times that of all Android phones, its simple to use, and casuals love simple. I'm hoping Google adds that level of simplicity in the future as well as maintaining the aspects that we tweekers love.

Regret??? Not even close. I cant put the thing down. This phone is just not for the novice user or someone not into learning how to manipulate a completely customizable OS. Im not ripping the Iphone but it is very simplistic to use, but I think thats what Apple was going for.
This phone is a beast and a blast to use. Give it a chance people, you'll probably come around.

Well, thats what you get with an inferior OS.

OSX is a pretty and glossy but actual functionality, security and customization are non existent.

$3 for iSyncr in the Market. I am using it with my MacBook Pro and the EVO. It synced everything but the album art. I am using ^3(cubed) as my music player and it grabbed all the album art for me. A pretty good solution since it seems I was in the same boat as you and have all of my music already in iTunes and was looking for an easy way to get my music on my EVO. Maybe it will work for you as well.

:p

I dont think all that is necessary. All he is saying is that he doesnt like the phone, its not like he is bashing it.

Thats what I dont understand, soon as somebody mentions they prefer their iphone they are a Apple fanboy and people scream bloody murder. If you dont like it, you dont like it. So there is no reason to attack the person for his honest opinion, since you end up looking like a fool. Just saying...

I love Apple and Android for what each has to offer and will leave it at that. I dont have a personal stake in either companies and dont have any loyalties since I pay for what I want.

It seems like you're a newbie too, so maybe you're just jumping on a new bandwagon and taking your fanboism to a different product?:p

J/K no need to lose your cool :)

This is my story, to the "T".

I have been Windows OS probably twice as long or 3 times as long as many of you "google, goggle guys", lol... Starting with the Casio Cassiopeia E115 and E125 as a Windows CE device, all the way up to the Dell Axiom X30 and X51 finishing up to the HTC PPC6700, PPC6800\Mogul, the Touch Pro and finally with the Touch Pro2. I have had the Touch Pro 2 since it came out, back IN June of 09... I can honestly say that it will be my last WIndows Phone...

That being said... (remember I have had Windows CE\PPC\PPCPE\Mobile devices, close to 30 of them, since 2001), so far to me, its not even close... The greatest device I have ever had the pleasure of using has been an Iphone 3gs, jailbroken, with the Backgrounder\Multiflow\FiveIcon\Glaskart apps installed for multitasking.... Its not even close... no wayyyy close... Right now, I don't have an IPhone, but have been contrained and resigned to carrying around 3 devices.... an

-a JAILBROKEN 3rd Generation Ipod Touch 32 gig with my music, Clock Radio (for streaming music via shout casts), Pandora (streaming music) and Slacker. I also use the ITOUCH for games... because the games and the wide variety of HIGH QUALITY games and apps blow everything away...on the Windows MObile phones... I love reading the bible, and there are sooo many bibles and audio books on the Iphone and in the iphone stores...and I love the Youtube Downloader apps that allow me to download videos from Youtube, to listen to later, especially since I have a 2 hour round trip drive to work, almost every day. And web surfing... THROUGH my TP2

-T-mobile Blackberry Curve 8320 from work, for work... (I am the Exchange and BES admin for my job), just to make phone calls WHEN I AM USING MY TP2 to STREAM internet or Music

-SPRINT Touch Pro 2 for Navigation (ie Bing, TomTom, GoogleMaps) ocassional PATIENT web surfing (because its too tedious and time consuming, sometimes, to run the Wifi Modem app just for the TP2) and phone calls...

SO there you have it... in summation, I use my TP2, 75% of the time as a wi-fi modem for the Itouch, and I use the Blackberry Curve, most of the time, as my dedicated PHONE, because I hate having to reconnect and re-jiggle the wi-fi connection between the ITOUCH and the TP2 whenever I have to use the phone to receive or make a call... IT SUCKS.... (should probably just turn on forwarding).

I want an IPHONE soooooo bad, that I literally drove over 100 miles for a FAKE once (didn't buy it once I found out it was fake) and eventually, over a 5 month period, had 2x 16gig 3gs's, 1x 32 gig 3gS, 1x 8 gig 3g, and 2x Itouches (32 and 64 gig model), of which, to this day, I only have the 32 gig Itouch, because each and everyone of the 3gs's were "Un-unlockable" and because I absolutely HATE and detest, and LOATHE AT&T and their "we can make you and break you" data plans that are in no way form or fashion remotely near the quality or quantity of the SERO 1250 minute plan that I currently sport with my TP2.

To me, after playing with the Iphone and then playing with android on both my TP2 and with the EVO 4G at a local Sprint store, and being a WIndows MObile owner for so long... its not even close..

#1 in Quality and satisfaction goes to the Iphone, because when you can load up a phone with dozens of apps, have true multitasking (albeit via Jailbreaking) a very nice and clear camera with very nice video, all with hardly EVER needing to reboot the phone to free up memory (Windows folks are used to this, like normal humans are used to breathing), you have to be the KING. ANd yes, the Iphones are almost 100%fully customizeable...

#2 Goes to the EVO and Android... I have seen Android, it seems like the future, but the OS still feels incomplete to me. Its still not half as smooth as the Iphone, even on a super fast phone like the Android. Right off the bat, the EVO model that I played with in the store, crashed the Sprint TV app, and would not load it, despite being on 4 bars of 3g Goodness... Screen rotate is automatic, but still a little slow...when comparing it to the Iphone, stuff still feels a little off... and little ragged...

#3 goes to the unmentionable... Windows Mobile... I feel as if I have been sold a fake bill of goods, time and time and time again... when folks start popping Android on your flagship phones... that speaks volumes to the disatisfaction that they have with YOUR OS....

To this day... I am currently beyond the 4g EVO craze, and am hoping and praying while I anxiously wait for the announcements on Monday, that SPRINT or T-mobile will release a Iphone, specifically because the only phone service I find more despicable than AT&T is Verizon whose plans and pricing are the exact same... I want to be free of this 3 device monty marathon... I want to be free of it... and yet, my mind says that the only way I would be free, would be to go to the 4G evo...

*sigh* I can't wait until they figure out how to get Android onto the soon to be released Nokia N8... because then, we will all have the holy grail (awesome video and photos, and OS...) on one device... until then... I wait for the new IPhones and if they don't release or announce for another carrier outside of AT&T, then I will jump to an EVO and be through with the merry-go-round until the release of the NEW WIndows Mobile phones...

I'm thinking of switching from a Pre to an EVO. In fact, I'm sure I will when I can find one. Anyways, I think if people are like me, using iTunes is just a necessary evil. I don't like it. I don't hate it. It's what works with my family's ipods of which we have 5. I don't want to go thru the hassle of learning some other program. I don't want to use two programs. I would just like to be able to use what I currently use and understand and transfer stuff to my current phone whether it's an Apple product or not. I don't care if I can drag and drop like on the Pre. I want it to work just like iTunes...it's what I know how to use.

I don't understand why Apple won't let other companies use iTunes. Aren't people more likely to purchase stuff from iTunes if they actually use it?
