My contract is up gonna get a different phone. How does the new g compare to the first gen x? I don't want to spend what it would cost to get a new moto x pure. The g seems like a great deal for a pretty good phone. I liked my x ,but battery is starting to lose longevity and we are being stranded with lollipop.

The G is a great device. I came from the current Pure Edition X actually. Works great even in 1gb/8gb form. Bought my fiancé the 2gb/16gb model and its noticeability quicker. I you decide to buy one, definitely choose the higher spec model.

#Battery life is superb
#Moto Actions are nice
#Rear camera is better than you'd expect for a $200 device
#its durable and almost completely waterproof
#as close to a nexus as you'll get, without the nexus price

I'm not a power user, I use mine for music streaming, social media, and general reading. Light gamer.

I agree with Cliff. I moved from a Moto X 2013 to Moto G3. I do like the G3 but miss X screen oled for sure. Overall the G3 is a good daily driver and lasts far longer than my X.

Suggest a trip to Best Buy where you can play with a display model. And be sure to get the 16gb with 2gb ram version.

I'm hoping for a bit better battery life than the old x. It gets me by most days. I farm, sometimes it's in and out of service when i m in certain places, and when its a long day and I'm away from a charger it nice to know I got enough left to make a call or check my email/texts and not have to worry about the battery.

Oh well the battery life is far better. You can easily go one full day on one charge. Having a lower res screen has its advantages

If there was a "Pure Edition" that worked with all four major US carriers like the current Moto X, I would also have a Moto G right now.

If you NFC, you may miss it on the new Moto G.
