It looks like they authorized my card for full amount. The checkout process tells you they will actually charge your card when it ships.

For those adding a line to a family.plan. Maybe they will fix it, but the system only allowed new family and imdividual plans. I talked to Live Chat and she said to pick any individual plan and cheapest options for now. Then modify and merge it to your family plan when you call to activate.

Forgot about Sales Tax . . . that's beat.

When you pre-ordered, did it allow you to keep your current data plan? When I looked at the pre-order page it looked like they had all new plans, and I couldn't keep my current unlimited plan.

EDIT: Ok, after checking my upgrade eligibility it allowed me to add the phone as an upgrade, and I had the option to keep my unlimited data plan (I also have a coporate discount account so what I see will probably be different then most, but you will probably still have the option)

If you try to order the device straight from the page it will try to add it as a new account and not an upgrade so you are better off logging in first and doing the eligibility. If you don't it will try to give you a new number or transfer your old number.

Also when I was looking at it first as a new line there is a $36 activation fee charged to your first bill. When doing it with the upgrade eligibility method it says it will be $18

Luckily my Govt employer discount waives the $36 activation fees on any new phones and gives me 25% off service.
It sounds like they fixed the system.
Last night it didn't recognize upgrade eligibility or current account status. Heck, the support person wasn't even aware that the Gnote presale had gone live and insisted it wasn't on sale yet until I sent the link!
Yes you can keep unlimited. The choices you make for the preorder plan don't matter until you call and activate the phone. Support told me that you just tell them you want to keep your old plan. Only new accounts have to use the new Data plans. We are still grandfathered in with unlimited.

My upgrade is March 19th, and they said they couldn't give me an upgrade because its more than a month away. I told him the phone only starts selling on the 19th and preorders today and he didnt even know what phone I was talking about! i tried to do it online but I used my main line to order an iphone upgrade and was going to use my second line to order the note upgrade so the data plans dont match. He said it would be an extra 200-250 dollars if he put the order in now... 300 + 250 = 550...with a plan....might as well buy it flat out in that case.

Well I want to preorder, but does anyone thing Amazon wireless will undercut this price by a good bit? They did with the GNex on verizon. Plus, they won't have tax I guess. If anything, I think I'll wait until bestbuy let's me order. That seems better since they give 50 off and a case. But, this is the phone I think I want.

I ordered a few minutes after midnight because I was up and on the computer anyway. I was surprised how quick the pre-order site was up, I thought they'd wait at least until 3am.

But I ordered a white Note, this will be my first white phone. I'm leaving Sprint for AT&T. My bill does jump somewhat, as I had an old employer discount with Sprint that I won't have with AT&T. But the Sprint speeds have been awful lately, to the point where it feels like I'm being throttled.

To use a Dan Hesse analogy, it's like having a buffet waiting for you, but they give you dessert plates to eat with, and the entryway to the buffet is about half the size of a regular door.

I wonder if I get the $36 activation fee waived thru bestbuy. I have a government discount.

Are you guys preordering without having seen or handled the phone? I really want this phone, but I am hesitant to pull the trigger without having held it in my hand.

I want to pre-order in store at best buy so that I can actually go pick it up on Sunday. The next day I'm taking a flight to Vegas so I'd like to have it ready for me before hand since Vegas is LTE capable.

I called a standard best buy and got transfered to there mobile department and they had zero clue about pre-orders, but I called a stand alone mobile store and he's able to pre-order it for me. I'll take a trip over there in a bit and hope this turns out well.

for you fellas pre-ordering online, as cuseguy mentioned you can keep your grandfathered-in unlimited data. BUT you have to activate the phone by calling them (and telling them you want to keep the old data plan). do NOT activate it yourself / online. it's possible to lose the grandfathered-in unlimited data plan that way.

we'll receive it on OR BEFORE the 17th :D

my local bestbuy had an empty Note behind the counter "hidden"...ask and maybe they have it and will show you ??

This is gonna be the longest week ever.....

I wanted to order through bestbuy because of the gift card and free case...I went through the process online only to be presented with having to select a data plan. It wouldn't let me keep my same plan (unlimited). So, I scrapped that idea.

If I get it in store, I think I can still use the gift card, but I'm not sure I can get the free case. But, most importantly, I don't want to lose my unlimited data. So, if I were to get it in store, do I just need to make sure that I call ATT and activate it and NOT let best buy activate it in store?

Best Buy knows how to handle your data plan. I bought my iPhone 4 from them before they kept my plan in tact. As they are signing you up they should go through all of your options with you and you can tell them then you want to keep it.

Yes you can do everthing in the store. Ordered mine yesterday in store.

you can order online from AT&T. do like i did and whilst you are on their site ordering, call their 800# for support and tell them your concern, i did the same thing.

they then tell you to go ahead and pick a plan on the site...and the key thing to do is, they will want you to call them after you get it in the mail and let them activate it...DO NOT activate it yourself when you get it. call them and have them do it and remind them that you want the unlimi data plan you are grandfathered-in for.

they will have made a note of it from your previous call. this is what i've done. i am confident it will work. call and ask for yourself. :)
