Anyone prefer the Aria size over the bigger phones?

Hello, I was wondering if the Aria supports the weather animations of Sense UI? I know Live Wallpapers are not.

Looking at this phone or the Captivate on ATT, coming from an iPhone 3G.
Thanks

Yes the weather animations are there on the Aria. If you are looking for something a little smaller than the iPhone 3g, then you definitely need to look at the Aria. If you want a form factor that is slightly bigger than the iPhone and has a bigger screen then you probably want to wait for the Captivate.

Tom

Thanks Tom. The Captivate is on my short list. The Incredible I played with last night was very nice too. Just waiting to see how these devices pan out.

I would rather have an Incredible, but I can't switch carriers at the moment and beggars can't be choosers. I wanted an HTC phone with Sense, so I chose not to hold out for the Captivate. On the bright side, the Aria feels just as snappy as the Incredible (if not more snappy) while navigating through the UI. The Incredible is faster in CPU intensive situations though.

I got my aria the other day...coming from a bold 9000. I love it. It could be a little bigger, but its a very nice compact phone. Fits in my pocket and I don't even know its there.

I think the size if the Aria will be fine for those who haven't experienced anything bigger. Coming from an EVO, the Aria would seem tiny. But if you already had a smaller smartphone, you will appreciate the size.

It's definitely a little transition coming from an iPhone. But I am getting used to it.

Man, I'm amazed. I don't have a lot of experience with Android phones, but the Aria is a great phone in my opinion.

See, I waited for Android phones from ATT as I'm stuck with them due to my employer. Finally, the Backflip was announced and I got one pretty early. Well, what a piece that thing is. Constant instances of unresponsiveness, poor data transfer in the areas I frequent. Very bland interfaces for the setup and utilities. The Aria runs all over the other unit. Responsiveness is very good, data transfer while sitting at my desk, which was impossible most of the time with the backflip, is seldom unavailable and the UI provides more desktop space with 6 instead of five (not sure what to do with it all yet). Heck, as a test I loaded Tux Rider on the unit. I had loaded it on the backflip, but it was jerky and unplayable. On the Aria it was smooth and fun.

Like I said, it is night and day difference. I'm actually quite glad, as I love the size of the unit. It fits quite comfortably in the pocket and the keyboard though small, can be worked with one hand quite well. Only complaint is the battery, as I use the unit to play audiobooks throughout the day. It seems the battery drains pretty quickly. In comparison to the backflip, the backflip seemed to last a bit longer, but not by much. I'd give it an extra 10-30 minutes of runtime while constantly playing audio.

I love the size and speed of the Aria. My favorite phone so far that I have had. My gf liked it so much after I bought it that she sold her iPhone 3G and bought an Aria :D

Now that I installed Swype on the phone, it just made it 10X even better. LOVE IT!

It's all about the footprint for me. I had a Fuze but it was thick and heavy. The Aria is ideal: light, thin, bigger screen than Fuze.

As for performance, fast, fast, fast. Love the Android Market.

Only downside is no bluetooth voice commands. I'm waiting for froyo to flash.

Size is a personal thing.

Is the Aria the lowest resolution and smallest screen of any of the new Android's?

Don't let that scare you. The only reason the resolution is that low is because of the screen size. It's not really that big, but it looks wondeful. I've had one for a couple of weeks now and the only time I regretted getting it is when we just got our dummy Captivate in today.

Still like my little phone better. I can live without live wall-papers draining my battery.

The Aria's size was one of the main reasons why I chose this phone. This is my first smart phone and was using a razor before. I liked the size of the palm pre + and felt that all of the current gen andriod phones and the iphone were all too big. The only drawback I can see regarding screen size is a smaller keyboard for text input. After getting swype installed even that is no longer an issue. I love this phone.

In my GF's Hand (she is short 5'0 with small hands) this phone is the perfect size where as my vibrant is looks way too big for her.

Ive pretty much had every phone AT&T has from the iphone, to blackberry, to captivate traded that for blackberry 9800. That got stollen, but to the point. i just bought this phone about a week ago. Got to tell you im not with all the specks and details of these phones. when i started playing with it, didnt miss the captivate at all. UI is great feels just as fast. slips right in pocket, doesnt scratch texting is just fine. great phone. wouldnt say better then captivate, but just as great...

I have been bouncing around phones for a while now because I couldn't quite find what I wanted. I tried almost all the current phones (Evo, iPhone 4, Captivate, Torch) and now the Aria. I have really fallen in love with this phone. The size is absolutely perfect, screen is great, build quality is excellent, and the speed is amazing. Don't let screen resolution sway you, keep in mind the 3GS was considered to have the best screen for a long time and it had the same resolution on a bigger screen. I am running CM6 because I personally think vanilla Froyo is much nicer than Sense and it is even faster than stock. To sum it up, this is a very nice phone and I think I have finally found exactly what I want in a smartphone.

Just got the Aria a few days ago. Coming over from BB. It is the perfect size to slip in your pocket, yet has enough power to get the things done i need. Very happy.
