Anyone putting stock in Dec 15th?

Remember, probably at least 3/4 of their business is walk-ins who have no idea what the latest greatest phone is. Those people aren't sitting around refreshing the AC forum every five minutes to get the latest news.

Apple has successfully created a business based on pre-release consumer anticipation, but Verizon has no need to do that.

You're comparing a carrier to a handset manufacturer -- which is really scary because we would think a carrier would have all it's ducks in a row.

Either way, Apple and their device launches are the litmus test for the industry. No one does it as well, with as much fanare/publicity, and as few problems. They work with their carriers to confirm they are good to go with a particular date, then they communicate it and that's that.

You are right that most people who buy from VZW stores probably just walk in... but many are enticed by ads, or posts on the internet, or enthusiasts like us who bring up other devices.

If Samsung/HTC/Moto and Google really want to dethrone Apple, they need to take a page out of their book and get the carriers under control.

I don't buy a phone because it's on Verizon. I buy it because it has the features and function I'm looking for. I choose my carrier based on perceived network performance and cost. I would assume many other people shop in a similar fashion.

We're the hardcore fans... the enthusiasts... and you don't want to alienate us.

With all the conflicting information between Verizon and their retail outlets concerning whether or not tomorrow is a go, if it doesn't launch tomorrow, there are going to be a hell of a lot more leaked phones out there!

agreed!

Are you really using a BB Storm? You could get pretty much any Android and be blown away, I used to have one of those!

I was lucky enough to get a nexus from BestBuy but only thanks to the massive cluster that is this release. With all the dates changing it is out of control. I know i have one and i shouldn't care, but being part of the this community, i am so frustrated at this release. I have 0 bugs on my Gnex, and it not because i haven't stumbled upon the from lack of use. I have been on this phone non stop. the ONLY problem is the talk to text doesn't work when using it in the browser, like posting here. This is the very first ICS device, we expect small problems anyway and there is a update out there... if the GSM works, why cant the CDMA. and its not because of a network problem... i have had 4G from first boot up and no issues ....and THE WORST PART IS..... "we" will still buy it anyway...
best of luck....
now i need to go calm down before i have a stroke from the hypertensive crisis i am in.

:p

Yeah me too! Had a Storm 1 and then a Storm 2. Night and day going to Android from BB. Never looked back. Now if the Nexus would just come out already.

I agree with you on all counts. In fact, what I was really trying to say is that Verizon doesn't have a pressing business need to handle a phone release with military precision, the way a manufacturer does. The phone is either in the store or it's not, and Verizon has plenty of other hardware to sell in its place in the meantime.

Verizon has no interest in alienating bleeding-edge tech folks, but neither do they have *that* much of an interest in bending over backwards for us.

It's probably academic now, anyway, since the blasted thing looks like it will go on sale tomorrow. Huzzah! :)

Just spoke to a CSR (I know, I know) who at first didn't know a release date. But someone in the background chimed in, and he said "Looks like we just got an email two minutes ago with a green light."

I've called quite a few stores and went to a few in person. The answers I received were one of the following:

I have no idea....soon
No.
Maybe....worst case scenario is Dec. 19th

I am surprised to hear from so many who have been assured its launching tomorrow. I hope all your sources are better than mine. I couldn't find a single store that feels confident it will launch tomorrow.

Confirmed launch date of tomorrow. Store called and is placing one on hold for me.
