Anyone returning Rezound For Nexus?

I am on the fence, the lack of root scares me. If we had CM9 support with an unlocked boot loader I would keep it for sure.

If I could do a direct exchange, I'd consider it depending on how things go. But if I have to cough up another $250 just to get it, then i'd pass.

Will exchange for galaxy nexus as Rezound is unable to push my corporate email while in 4g area. Been going between VZW and HTC since launch date with no resolution still. All other data works in 4g and email works as expected in 3g. Oh well....

Had mine only about a week and for the 1? I payed even if I wanted to switch it would cost me $$. NO WAY. Besides, I have not had a single problem with this phone. Battery life is better than I expected. And the camera is the icing on the cake. End of story...

I'm hooked...;)

made the decision before i bought the rezound. i have been waiting for the GN for months and months.

from the reviews I read the rezound has a noticeably better camera which i want - and quite important to me.

i like the size better, and i like having removable storage. not to mention the PPI is better. and when HTC said they are strongly considering not hard skinning ICS, it seemed like the rezound was the best phone on Verizon if I wanted to get one by the end of the year and enjoy ICS later on it.

Talk about shady build quality...Samsung are masters at that.

I will be returning my Rezound for the Nexus..

I wanted to love the Rezound. But I am on my 3rd one now, first and second one had headphone jack problems, the second one also had pink capacitive buttons, and it started boot looping out of the blue.

The shady build quality does not make me feel comfortable with keeping this phone for the entirety of the contract.

im still on the fence about returning mine for the GN. the Rezound has turned out to be a really great device as an upgrade from my Dinc1. guess i just have to wait till i have a chance to mess around with it.

Exactly my thoughts. Also, the GN will have its own set of issues and growing pains. Everyone over in the GN "waiting room " will be up in arms over one thing or another. It's already been announced that there will be no Google Checkout or whatever it's called, which was one of the reasons I was considering it initially. In short, I don't think it will be everything that has been promised or rumored. For the few zealots who have realistic expectations, I think it will be great. But after playing with the Rezound for last couple of days, I've totally lost interest in anything having to do with the NG.

yep. and the other thing is the capacitative buttons. i can see some growing pains with the only on-screen buttons of the GN, already being noticed in apps like FB. i like the buttons. been using them since the nexus one. im sure after some months and updates with apps it will be pretty smooth, but i don't feel like dealing with it either.

Nope, The Rezound is perfect for me. I hate Samsung phones and everyone that I know with one or have had them have had MANY issues!! Just because it is pure Google does not mean it will not be encrypted. I am sure Verizon will lock it down like every other phone!

Can Verizon lock it down even though its a developer phone? What is the definintion of a Google Developer phone anyway? Is it just like the developer program for apple, to write apps for the phone?

NO WAY!!!!!!! This phones is as good as it gets! If the Nexus didn't come with ICS it would be just another phone IMO! Love my Rezound and it's only going to get better when we get ICS!!

I'll see your Nexus, and raise you a DINC2. Yeah, I said it. I couldn't be happier that the Nexus has taken this long to finally "bring up the rear". I first started off with the DX, then tried out the crapple "3 screens" idea. I first purchased a Mac mini and currently have it on my 58" sammy, then I got the 2nd pad, and figured i'd get the 3rd screen which was what someone just referred to as the "jesusphone". Why not try and get all three so they'll huddle up and use the cloud service that's been the talk of the fruit town for some time. Well, low and behold, I was completely let down, and wasn't wow'd one bit. Sure the equipment is solid and works well for it's intended purposes. But coming from an Android device, I felt like I was in a straight jacket trying to do the simplest things on that gosh durn wonder phone that I could previously accomplish on my DX. Long story short, well too late for that now, I sold both the pad and the glass slab wonder phone for $975 cash and found a brand new DINC2 in box for $175 and couldn't be more thrilled to have all 7 of my customized, widgetized, androidized screens back in action!! My point is, I was just like most others that are currently elbow to elbow in the "Nexus waiting room" and couldn't wait to grab one myself. I had the DX already and was tired of that design, so the RAZR was out, then the thickness of the Rezound turned me off, so I'd hold out for the Nexus "just to see". I grew impatient and bought the DINC2 and can honestly say my thirst is quenched, for now. I'm keeping my 2yr upgrade, my leftover $800, and will see if they'll actually come out with a dual/quad core 4G smart yet practical phone (by keeping it 4" in screen size) in the next few months. I don't have ape hands and the DX was killing my thumb trying to operate it with one hand. But for what it's worth, if I had the Rezound now, I don't see myself trading it in for the Nexus either. For the mean time, I'm sadly in love with an "OLD" phone that's seems to me light years ahead of what the great and late Mr. Jobs created that was quoted to bring down Android. Cheers and Happy Holidays!!!

I have a dinc2 now. However, I despise Sense and switched to an AOSP ROM. That has introduced a problem with the call volume being really low compared to a Sense ROM. I actually would have been fine with that if the camera wasn't a step backwards from the dinc, which I had for a little over a year at this point. If the dinc2 camera was at least on par with the dinc I wouldn't even waste my money on a Rezound or Nexus. But since I blew my free upgrade on the dinc2 I want to get something with a decent camera and customizing options at least. I do love me some MIUI ROMs.

No. Every Samsung phone I've owned has had a major deal breaker: horrible GPS.

I use navigation for work. My Droid Charge would take up to 10 minutes to acquire a GPS lock. Many times I just drove in the general direction of my destination and prayed for a lock by the time I got near. I even started using my Xoom to navigate because it would grab a lock in seconds while the Samsung was still searching minutes later.

Since this has happened on multiple Samsung phones I've owned and the repeated reports on Samsung GPS bug fixes being released on phones, there's no way I'll risk it. I had the vz salesman take the Rezound outside to confirm a good GPS.

And while the Rezound got the exact address (something I rarely see) in seconds, my Sammy Charge didn't even see any satellites to try to lock onto.

  • App incompatibility issues
  • Worse camera and i mean WORSE. If i wanted to go back to my droid 2, i'd buy one on craigslist for $10.You know the first nexus had a 5mp camera as well as the first droid? I know i know. "MP don't count". Well, the pictures it produces have come out consistently ty according to reviews.
  • No removable memory
  • Less pocketable form factor
  • Samsung build quality
  • Stock and not sense. Sense really does bring alot of functionality. I couldn't give up my flip clock, friendstream and 80 other widgets it includes as well as the kick ass lockscreen
  • Oversaturated screen. I'm in the minority on this, but i don't like how cartoony amoled makes everything look
  • NFC in it's present stage is just as much a gimmick as people say "beats" is to the rezound. There's nowhere in my city i can even use it. Would i even care to? I have to bring my wallet everywhere i go anyway. I don't need to fiddle with my phone at checkout when taking out my debit card is quicker. Give it time to mature

I'm shocking myself here. I was so dead set on getting a nexus just a month ago that this post coming from someone else would piss me off. I would have literally quoted, nitpicked and challenged each and every complaint and torn it apart with some ridiculous justification. After having the rezound? I don't know why i ever cared about the nexus. After the disappointment of the thunderbolt, htc left such a bitter taste in my mouth i wanted to jump to another brand as soon as i could. The rezound changed all of it.

I'll keep my better camera, better build quality, no lag sense ui with functionality i'd have to get with a ton of different apps that still won't be the same and enjoy my ice cream sandwich soon when most of the app incompatibility issues have been ironed out.

Erm...I have some bad news for you. The extended return window began on Novemeber 15th. If you purchased your phone on the 14th, I believe you're S.O.L.
Unless you can finesse your way through a customer service call, I suppose.

My plan all along was to rent the Rezound while waiting for the GN. So hopefully Friday I'll be able to make the switch.

That being said, the Rezound is the best phone released in the US market today. I have recommended it to everyone who asks. The general population does not care about NFC, but I do. For me, it HAS to be in the phone I carry for possibly the next two years. No need to comment on the NFC capabilites and Verizon?s policies, they are non-issues for me.

The physical dimensions of the GN are marginally bigger. .25? taller and .09? wider, yet approximate calculated volume is 26% less (5.27 cui vs 7.08 cui on the Rezound). The Rezound fits well in the pocket so I?m sure the GN won?t feel any different.

If the battery life on the GN equals that of the Rezound I will be happy. Although I?m thinking it will be better since the harware/software are supposed to be harmonized.

The Rezound will still be the best phone in the US market next week too. NFC will not work properly on the GN - you can bank on that.
