Anyone skipping this iteration of Pixel?

I've been going back and forth, back and forth

LOL me too. Ordered on the fourth, canceled a few days later. Ordered on the ninth, just canceled after reading Ron Amadeo's article. There just wasn't anything in there I could disagree with. I was never thrilled with it's form factor (actually much prefer the HTC 10's), and just came away with the feeling that "Made by Google" is a bit of a stretch this time around.

While it is unlike me to pass on each year's latest and greatest from Google, think I'm gonna stick with the 6P for another year as I have no real complaints there other than the size of it (which is a little clumsy).

Just listened to the Android Central podcast on the pixel. They all say the pixel is a worthy upgrade and worth the price. Much better than the 6p. Go listen to the podcast if you are on the fence of getting it.

Price doesn't bother me. But what does it really do better than the 6P? A little smoother maybe? I don't notice a lack of smoothness in the 6P. Better camera? Marginally so... I am happy with the 6P's camera, and if I really want to take serious photos I'll grab my Nikon. Assistant? I think I'd rather play with that in the context that is Google Home. There is not much else to talk about.

I find the 6P sexier than the Pixel. And I have come to be suspect of Google's 1.0 efforts. Frankly, I find it hard to believe this phone was engineered by Google from the ground up. If it was, they're not very good at it yet.

Proof that beauty is in the eye of the beholder as I find the 6P to be one of the ugliest phones ever made and I think the Pixel is drop dead sexy..

I love swappa. I've sold a lot of phones on there. My guess is that after the Pixel is release I may be able to get a 64GB Nexus 6p for around $300 bucks on swappa. :)

Nexus support is gone, so don't plan on getting the latest and greatest past 7.1

If you miss the Pre-Order ( Oct. 20) deadline you also don't get the Free Daydream VR head set worth $79.
The early bird catches the VR headset.

The Pixel XL with Google software updates should work just fine until the 5G phones start to show up in 2019- 2020.

I 'm looking forward to receiving my Black XL in about a week.

I've been going back and forth, back and forth, but have decided to skip the Pixel this year. Anyone else make this decision?
My rational is 100% cost. Maybe i'll pick up one on swappa in a few months.

Anyone else skipping this year's Pixel? Why?

I may skipping it because of budget issue, however I am fine with the price. Another reason that may force me to skip is because I can't officially purchase it in my country.

They also lack more....

1. No direct updates
2. No timely security patches
3. No assistant
4. No unlimited storage of video and photo

The price is either fair for what you get or not depending on the person.. it's easy to skew the argument in either direction....

I think it's fairly priced but that's me...

You forgot 24/7 support/screen share and 2 year Google Protection for $99. :D

The competition offers more for that flagship price though.

I'm going to use your favorite word... Subjective. It might be a shocker, but there is no one phone to rule them all. There are pros and cons to every phone and its up to the individual to figure out which fits their needs more. You've been a proponent for waiting to see the reviews and even if we focus on what the Pixel "lacks" compared to the competition, it didn't stop several reviewers to declare the Pixel the best Android phone available.

I don't necessarily look for a best android phone, but look for a best android phone for me, and the Pixel could be that. You've got your opinion and that's fine, but the reviews are in and like it or not, the Pixel is a flagship phone that goes toe-to-toe with the "best".

Skipping. My HTC 10 is still as awesome and fast as ever. Maybe next year, or maybe never.

Using the Pixel to remove another iPhone from the heard and reintegrate it with the Android family. Since I have the 10; she'll get the Pixel.

Although I am waiting for real world users to critique just in case. Signs so far indicate I don't have much to worry about.

I'm skipping this year. I'm a Nexus 5x owner and while the Pixel is superior spec wise, nothing that I see would matter that much to me. My 5x is plenty fast for everything I do.

I'm disappointed in the end of the Nexus line. Good phones with the main advantage over the flagship phones: Fast updates and no overlay software. Pixel's extra features aren't enough for me to shell out the extra dough. I may get forced into it next year when my 5x starts to show its age.

6p has 1 more year of support. Google guarantees 2 years of support on nexus.

How much iteration will happen in a year? Not only that, but most of the real features like assistant likely won't come in full to other Android devices. Especially Nexus phones.

I'm skipping this year. Cost is a factor but it is more to see how this first Pixel does and to make absolutely sure Google is dedicated to this new product line (I was certain that the Moto X was going to be a new direction for Google too...). I also think Google will learn a lot from this release and the Pixel 2.0 will be the phone to beat.

I *would* be skipping the Pixel this year, except for the fact that I need a replacement for my Note 7. I'll sell you mine as soon as the Note 8's come out... :-)
