Anyone switched/switching from Nexus 5X to S7?

The s7 is a bit overpriced no doubt specially in Canada. The nexus 5x is a good phone but in no way can be compared to the s7 in terms of build quality and hardware. It just isn't fair. I would say the moto x or the lg g4 is in the same category and price point.

I think it's more a factor of 'does the 5X fit the role'. Objectively, of course the S7 is the better device, but will that $300/$400 phone provide the same utility that the $700 will?

In years past, there was a clear gap between those phones. Now, the money is much farther apart than the functionality.

If you were to have me both phones and ask me to pick... And I own both... I'd probably pick the 5X based on my personal role.

Only reason I'd switch to the s7 is video recording, other than that I'm staying.

I'll post this in both the Nexus and S7 forums to get a balanced opinion here.

I have a 5X and love it, and whilst it has a small screen it's obvious that it isn't very efficient with space, i.e. the S7 edge is almost identical in size, being just a hair taller. Amazing.

I don't tend to swap phones as regularly as I once did but I really fancy the idea of an S7 until the next Nexii come along. I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons. What do you all think?

Nexus 5X:

- Timely security updates
- Latest OS updates delivered quickly

Samsung S7

- Waterproofing
- Bigger battery/apparently better battery life
- Wireless charging
- Power saving features
- Better range of accessories
- Quality materials

Have I missed anything? Would you switch?

You forgot to mention the s7 edge cost 800 dollars too. Thats a lot of money to spend just to trade it in once the next nexus phone comes out.

Also yes the screen is bigger but I think a lot of that is the rounded edges. Yes the screen is very nice looking,

The S7 is locked down tighter than even an iphone...if you like modding or flashing ROMs you're not doing any of that with the S7 so you better like touchwiz because your stuck with it and all the extra stuff sammy and your carrier put on the phone.

Did I mention it costs 800 dollars???
