Anyone switched to Note 3 from iphone?

Questions from an Android virgin.....

Is there a web-based texting app, similar to Apple's imessage? Or do Android users message through their provider?

I have an preloaded app called Google Play. Is that the primary app store for Android apps? I hear people mention the Amazon Marketplace. But I don't see that app on my phone.

Is there a way to save a picture to your gallery from the web or FAcebook? Or take a screenshot?

Google play is where u download apps. THe amazon app store app is no longer available on google play, but you can still download it by going on the amazon website with your phone.

You can just hold down a picture and you have an option to save. You can also take a screen shot by sliding your hand across your note or by taking out your stylus, press and hold onto the button on your stylus, and tap the screen.

I'm switching from an iphone 5. I had the 4s before that. iOS7 was the kicker for me. I can barely read my phone, even with reading glasses...
Figured, get the biggest, baddest phone on the market, that'll solve the issue!

Hey guys,

Android newbie here, I've been a longtime iPhone user (since original iPhone to iPhone 5). I'm getting my N3 tomorrow and I've been lurking around reading different threads on tweaks, which apps to download, how to use, etc. I know i'll be a kindergardener for the first few weeks, but i'm really hyped about the transition. Now i've found a great forum, it seems like I can learn a lot from here.

I've had good luck using Google Hangouts for sending texts and photos instead of using SMS. Also available on iOS, BTW.

There is nothing wrong with the iPhone. Especially the 4S. It may even help you that you went with the ioh I need first before trying Android. It will give you perspective. Good luck with your new device.

I too like many here was a dyed in the wool iPhone fanatic. Yes I did dabble in Android but years before Jelly Bean, Touch Whiz and Samsung so it was easy to like IPhone for me...The beautiful apps always drew me back. And even now I miss some like Wimp and some game apps. But the bottom line is: iPhone is losing its touch ....ios 7 was buggy...amateur...and sorta trying to mimic Android. I had been watching the Note series for awhile and when the 3 came out...that was it for me. I really enjoy this phone. I gave my iPhone 5 to my hubby. Whenever I borrow it....it feels so small. I really like how the spelling is so much better on this device. So many things are. I'm very happy with it.

I will agree the predictive type is really good now. It wasn't always like that but Samsung was able to get it together this time around. I do believe that this is the first time since the iPhone has come out that I think another touchscreen device has a better typing experience.

I'm loving mine too after switching fromiPhone 5, I reckon in about 4 months I may have the hang of how to use it!!!! Amount if options and settings for everything is unreal

I'm hoping to make the switch next month when my contract with Sprint ends. Getting the Note 3 with Verizon. Yes to good changes!

Yep- I'm glad I wasn't so set in my ways that I didn't look at all the options. I think the turning point for me was checking out the Galaxy S4 at Best Buy lol. Then when ios 7 came out it was disappointing to me. Especially when it had glitches. Nothing is perfect but this comes close.

I made the switch. I've tried before, but found myself always going back to iOS. I had the Note 2 and as much as I liked it i was still found myself going back n forth... Then my wife wanted to try the Note and it soon became her daily driver. I heard about the 5s and the Note 3 about the same time and preordered the Note 3... then I canceled it and went to Verizon on 5s Launch day... It only lasted 10 days in my hands before I took it back and ordered the Note 3... I know... Fickle eh? I LOVE my Note 3!! Yes, it's big, but its so smooth, ultra fast, and the screen is amazing. NO lag at all. the Camera is insane!! The phone call quality is as good or better than the 5s. I haven't dropped a single call yet. I also got the Gear... It's ridiculous!!! Living in So.Cal and working ALL the time while in traffic.. I love the technology with my new systems and don't see ever going back...

My husband and I made the switch. He had a 4s while I had the 5. I had been going back and forth w/ researching it and we finally decided to take the chance. Glad we did!! We picked up our N3s last week through Verizon and Best Buy. Everyday it seems I have been discovering something new and I think I have been driving him crazy because all I talk about is the phone lol! We still have our Apple TV and my iPad so we're not totally out of the Apple Ecosystem & not planning to give those up but I really love this phone.

I too am a longtime iPhone user preparing to make the switch to the Note III. My only time in the android world was about a six month run with my work phone at my last job. Seemed fine but I was unable to do anything with it due to it not being mine. I'm a little nervous/excited as I like the simplicity of the iPhone, but I'm tired of the small screen and I'm not a fan of the new OS. I've spent a little time at the local Best Buy toying with the N3 and must say it is awesome! I just hope this old dog can learn some new tricks.

I'm actually an iPhone user who switched to the note 3 and is about to switch back to the 5s. The note 3 is awesome but ios fits better into my life.

That's respectable. At least you gave it a try. Good luck.

I want to add my perspective here. I've been an iPhone user since '07... and I was hooked since then. I didn't bother to look at any other phones although there were times being a gadget lover I played with Android phones... I even rooted my sisters android phones, but I never actually thought it was for "ME."

What invoked the switch in my opinion what the iPad, given that I used my iPad alot... and the iPhone became second nature to me when I was home, even while in travel... I had given most of my time to the iPad. iPad was bigger and easier to read. Then, that actually brought me to think of the Note... having a device that can allow me to not carry both.

I bought the iPhone 5s... it was blazingly fast, it worked well. When I had the iPhone 5 unlike many users... I enjoyed iOS 7 over the jailbreak. I thought when the jailbreak arrive it will only add to the iOS 7 experience. But then... I credit Marques Brownlee on his YouTube channel video reviewing the iPhone 5s. With him viewing the iPhone 5s in an Android perspective... it's the ability to "customize" the OS. That's the primarily reason to switch IMO. In terms, of ease of use and polish apps.. Apple wins hands down. But the Note 3 can be choppy at times especially in chrome... and even in certain apps, but the customization aspect of it.. Makes it for "ME."

I'm glad there are two great OS out there... iOS for years showed Android what it takes to improve it's OS. And, by and by.. Android is getting better. Samsung has added great features... along with an array of sizes for any given individual. I enjoy the Note 3, but you would never find me bashing the iPhone... it helped in my enjoyment with the Note 3.

very well said. I will deff be back, and by then the note series will only be better. For right now with my job and other things in my life apple just works better, but I will be back!
