I am torn between switching to s10+ from this phone. s10+ looks so neat.
I am waiting to hear if s10 cameras are any better. Battery life and charging on mate 20 is insane, so how does s10 plus stack up to it..
Anyone else looking to switch?

Ive already played with the camera. they're nearly identical.

Dxomark wrote that the zoom in isn't as good as Mate 20 Pro. They look really similar to me but thats Samsung 2x vs Huawei 3x zoom

Saw a video on YouTube comparison the wide angle and said Mate 20 Pro has an edge over the S10+. This proved to be true as I tested and compared it in store as well

Plus, Mate 20 Pro night mode probably is better for low light pictures and also has super macro shots.

Selfies on the other hand, S10+ kills it in that department

But really, you're not missing much.

The only thing stopping me from getting a high end samsung is the "bixby" button. Yeah i know i can remap and so on but i just dont like being forced.

And Samsung's fast charging us hilarious. Indonesia gets the Exynos version and it so lame. Gonna be a while before it could charge as fast as the Mate 20 Pro.

Not a chance, the S10+ brought features the Mate 20 Pro had last year.

I will be waiting for the Note10 5G and Mate 30 Pro, those will be the real beasts, IMO.

P30 Pro sounding like a true beast. Unfortunately, it sounds like they're getting rid of the 3D face unlock on that one though

I'm sure a lot of people on here are tempted by the S10/10+ I know I am, I have had one in a basket ready to go more than once since Thursday!

In some ways the Samsung is very tempting but in others it looks to be a step down from the Mate. Here are my thoughts on the relative pros and cons....

For getting the S10/10+

- As someone who does not use cases the ceramic is very tempting
- It would be nice to have a proper always on display again.
- I expect the screen to be better i.e. no green border around the edges!
- Overall I do think OneUi is better than EMUI and generally Samsungs do I think offer a slicker experience
- A better in screen FPS and one that works with banking apps etc

For the Mate 20 pro...

- The main camera on the S10 is I think the same hardware as in the S9/Note 9 so good but I'd expect overall image quality to still trail the Mate and Pixels
- Jury out on the hole punch for one the status bar looks a lot thicker so I am unsure how much useable screen space is lost to it.
- Proper face unlock. I was expecting better
- The size of the Mate is IMO in the goldilocks zone whereas the S10 is maybe too small and the 10+ too big and that nice ceramic finish is only available on the bigger one
- As with any Samsung there will be hoops to jump through to get rid of all that bloatware

I compared the cameras in store with the thing Samsung has that mimics night mode (see attached pic - its from mate 20 pro, don't have the pic from Samsung phone, but you can take my word on this) . Mate20 pro killed Samsung in that department. I can also confirm, the reverse wireless charging, mate 20 pro is slightly faster than Samsung. Yes, compared these two features. The display and speakers on s10 are better than Note 9, ofcourse better than mate 20 pro. Everything on Mate 20 pro is amazing, except the AOD.... Hope someone builds a custom rom. Samsung reverse wireless charging at 9w vs Huawei 3w

9w reverse wireless charging... In Indonesia we get the exynos version. The adaptive fast charging is laughable. Thus using the S10 series to reverse wireless charge another phone seems like a bad idea. As charging the s10 series takes some time.

Mate 20 Pro gets charged to literally 100% in 1 hour. I doubt the s10 series can do that.

That's the worst part of samsung. Still using outdated quick charge 2.0. I'm hoping Huawei cracked up a notch on the reverse wireless charging on P30 Pro

If u have mate 20 pro.... I don't think u should buy s10+.. Camera vise mate 20 pro is better... Even wide angle is 20mp.. Size wise mate 20 pro is easy to hold... I have mate 20 pro and Note 9 as daily drivers... I will wait for mate 30 Pro and Note 10

Thats the best idea. Because right now S10+ with 12GB/1TB costs $1700 in Indonesia. Whereas the 8GB/256GB Mate 20 Pro costs $1100 in Indonesia...and yeah yeah more RAM is better but 12GB is pure overkill... And 1TB of ROM is also overkill... S10+ for me is just like a juiced up version of the S9+...

And the spare $600 could be used for a good headphone xD

In India with mate 20 pro we getting free sennheiser wireless headfones worth 400$ free 😁

Oh my... All i got is the Huawei Wireless charger...and spent another $400 on Sony WH-1000XM3...

If thats the case you save up even more. Unless you need 12GB of RAM or 1TB of ROM xD

Yeah I think I will stick with mate 20 pro. I love those headphones I got with it. S10 I like that metal rim and white back a lot... Something that's very attractive to me but besides look nothing much better for my use... I know I will hate giving up this fast charging... So I will try to stay with mate 20 pro... Though usually I end up buying all new Samsung and apples.. This is my first Huawei...

Really not missing much. Playing around with the camera more earlier and they're pretty much on par. You'll get a nicer screen with a hole punch but you get 3D face unlock on m20pro. You get a faster reverse wireless charging on S10 but also a slower wired charging speed. M20Pro night shots way better than S10+. Only real thing S10 has is the headphone jack. So yah

Reverse wireless charging is not really faster on Samsung. I tested this as well with Samsung store representative. It said 1 hr 19 min to fully charge a Samsung phone from Samsung, where as 1 hr 13 min to fully charge from Mate 20 pro. The rep just gave up on this
