Anyone try Tesla Coil

I just put Liquid Thundersense on this morning due to all the claims of superb battery life.
It is a VERY easy transition from BAMF. A couple of small disappointments but no biggies.

I dl'd 1.45, had a day old nandroid backup already, wiped cache and dalvik and installed.
All my data/settings/and almost all my programs were already there.
I updated to the latest imoseyon kernal, set to extreme and smartass...and I'm gonna drive this over the weekend.

Smooth and quick so far....but I still like BAMF better (again, only been a few hours)

I did have to re-download ROM Manager, I had to download Voice Search (Google) and a terminal emulator....leading me to....I miss the BAMF toolkit already.

Sorry to get off topic of the Tesla, but this thread, IMO ...is turning into a melting pot of thoughts on ROMs.

OP...if this is getting way off topic, please PM me and I'll ask to have the thread cleaned up!

I rather enjoy Tesla Coil. After I root, I installed it and have been very happy. I haven't tried a sensed Rom yet (motoblur left a bad influence on me) but un thinking of trying bamf later today.

You see I'm currently running cm7 on a different device. cynaogenmod is a bare bones rom which guts the extra stuff from your phone. leaving behind vanilla gingerbread with a little cyanogen flavor.

i run cm7 on my deactivated droid incredible. bamf on my tbolt for now and it's been good. would like to try more tbolt roms when i have some time, tesla and vanilla bean basically.

Is there a better more enchanced version of LeanKernel out there?

I'm using 2.6.32.21-Imoseyon, basically the one that came with the rom, is there one that's good for battery, while the phone being snappy?

edit: Also having a problem with Tesla Coil, and going to try to describe it as good as possible so here we go :

I feel that sometimes when I unlock my phone, I have to "sweep" my finger harder than usual for it recognize I want to change homescreens? Has anyone noticed that?

Yeah I think this rom is affecting the sensitivity of the screen, because sometimes the back button messaging doesn't recognize my finger and sometimes I touch the market and any other app and it doesn't recognize me touching the screen.

I've been running various versions of Das BAMF since rooting. Now that I'm comfortable with the process I'm going to give Tesla Coil a spin. The dev community for the TBolt I'd great.

On top of the questions I previously asked, If I am going to get a kernel for battery/performance, which one I would I need for Tesla COil and then which one would I need for stock rom after root? Like the htc sense

leanKernel is a popular choice for Sense-based ROMs such as Tesla Coil. Check out the link below. The developer of leanKernel is part of the group behind Tesla Coil. Just loaded up Tesla Coil and trying it out.

[Kernel] leanKernel: minimalistic kernel, v2.4.6 (sense 5/12/11), v2.0.5 (cm7 5/4/11) - xda-developers

Isn't tesla coil AOSP Based?

But anyways just to confirm NotJustAPhone, can I use that kernel with the stock rom rooted?

Question, you know the original skin/theme for telsa coil, with the android holding the lightning bolt? How do you set that again after changing backgrounds? I don't see it in the wallpapers.

Yes, leanKernel works with a stock, rooted TBolt. Tesla Coil is Sense based, as are all current ROMs for the Tbolt. I believe that CM7 (currently in alpha) is the only AOSP-based TBolt ROM.

In the OP of the thread I linked to earlier, the developer explained that there's one version for CM7 and a different version for all other ROMs. I'm running the latest leanKernel now with Tesla Coil and seems to be running smoothly.

Okay so if I am running stock which kernel of those you recommend for performance/battery

I suggest trying the Sense-based lean version. Read the OP of the leanKernel thread for instructions on using the speedtweak.sh script. I tried running it in extreme mode, which aggressively undervolts but my phone didn't like it. Running in normal mode now, which undervolts less, and working fine so far. Normal and extreme also overclock, while the battsaver mode does not. Will try battsaver after letting it run on normal tonight and tomorrow.

That said, I was getting great battery life was das BAMF 1.6.3 and the control freak kernel. May end up switching back but wanted to try Tesla Coil and leanKernal over the weekend. (Of course, leanKernel works with das BAMF.)

I have to use a script? Can't I just download it ?

I want to use the first one that says Sense and Lean :stripped down minimalistic, does that one lag or it fast?

Yes, that's the one you want. The kernel defaults to normal mode which undervolts and overclocks to 1.4 GHz. If you want to maximize battery life, you'll want to turn off overclocking which requires using the script in terminal mode. It's really easy and the instructions are in the post.

Running fine so far. I'm checking out the forums while streaming Pandora and it's working well in normal mode. I tried this in extreme and my phone rebooted a couple of times. With the less undervolted normal mode, it's been working fine.

I see you have to hit 1-8 in terminal emulator, which is the option to turn off overclocking? I don't see one directly that does that.

And to install a kernel, I flash through clockwork, and which caches do I clear?

clear cache partition and dalvik cache before flashing a kernel
