Anyone try the free stuff?

Oh never said you can't be annoyed -- but I just fail to see the logic in paying a company that you seem to dislike each month. I personally wouldn't do it.
Because it's highly likely the alternatives are worse for us?

Leaving out the MVNOs, choices:
  • VZW: Too expensive
  • AT&T: Too expensive. (Plus we hates the thing that calls itself "at&t," these days, we do.)
  • Sprint: Left Sprint for TMO because Sprint's network was performing so badly. Plus: More expensive.
Then their's the New Kid In Town: Google Fi. A possibility, save I don't like either of the two devices with which I'd be obliged to go, going that way.

See what I mean? I may be annoyed with TMO, atm, but we've overall been happy with them. I'm not about to cut my nose off to spite my face. That would be stupid.

Just out of curiosity, which plan are you on now and how much are you paying?

Not certain what they call it, anymore. There've been so many changes... It's a grandfathered plan, tho, I believe.

It's a 1GB data plan for me, at $50/mo., with my wife as an add-a-line for $30/mo. (also 1GB). Then we added the $10/mo. LD package to her line. Then I get a veteran's discount. It comes to about $80/mo., with taxes and surcharges.

It's a good deal and we're basically happy with TMO. TBH: I'm just annoyed about the B12 issues, so I'm picking on TMO for every little thing.

Verizon would be $85 for 3gb and 2 lines before any discount ($45 account access +2x$20 line access). This includes nationwide long distance.

Heh. Didn't realize VZW had gotten that reasonable. Thanks for the info!

Thing is: That VZW plan wouldn't incl. roaming in other countries and TMO's LD plan is more advantageous for us. (My wife has friends and family all over the world.)

Just so you know, Verizon does have international calling plans too. Tmobile's international plan is probably better, but just wanted to give you the heads up so that you can make an informed decision as to what is best for you and your wife.

Good luck in whichever you decide.

At it's core, it's a 911 issue. I just want to know why T-Mobile seems to make it so hard for OEMs to get certified for VoLTE on Band 12 when other carriers - LIKE VERIZON OF ALL PEOPLE, make it easy to enable VoLTE.

I'm not sure how valid the 911 explanation for voLTE/band 12 was.

Verizon has whitelisted a non-CDMA variant of the BlackBerry Priv for use on their network
. Mind you, this model not only is missing CDMA but also Verizon's primary LTE band 13. So your only options for coverage (data and voice) on this phone are secondary LTE networks: bands 2, 4 and 5. In other words, if you are in some place where Verizon doesn't have a band 2/4/5 LTE network, you aren't going to get cell service. Why wasn't 911 access such a big deal for Verizon here that they chose to allow this phone on their network? Don't they have to worry about all the same fines TMO has to, if a customer can't make a call to 911 because he or she bought a phone that wasn't up with that market's coverage?

I apologize for dragging this thread so far off-topic. I only meant to pitch a ***** and have done with it.

Maybe one of the mods can take everything from post #30, on, and move it to a new thread, so this one can get back to extolling the joys of free pizza, movies on VUDU and TMO stock?

How do you know that? T-Mobile has been enhancing their network constantly over the past few years. But they don't (and can't) do it everywhere all at once. They've been rolling out band 12 support in a lot of the regions where they needed to increase blanket coverage... which only helps if you have a phone that supports band 12. If you don't, that's your problem, not T-Mobile's. In my area, I saw two distinct bumps in coverage... one last August when they brought B12 online in an area where I had a totally dead zone (where EVERY carrier had a dead zone for that matter). And another earlier this year where another weak area saw a big bump in coverage when they brought band 12 online on another group of towers.

When i first joined T-Mobile a few years ago, I had a one or two dead spots in the area and a couple of areas where I had a weak signal and dropped down to EDGE speeds. Today? I have full LTE coverage everywhere I go that isn't deep in the bowels of some isolated valley where nothing short of a satphone is going to work (and even that is a crap shoot). So my experience differs from yours by quite a bit.

As for the phones... VoLTE and WiFi Calling aside, there are plenty of affordable, unlocked phones that fully support their network (phone + LTE bands). And if you wanted VoLTE and WFC, the Nexus 5X fully supports those. There may be some other unlocked phones that support those two features as well, but that was the one I know does out of the box. You can't fault T-Mobile for service if you are using a phone that doesn't fully support their network.

Their coverage isn't great in AZ. I can't get a signal in Flagstaff or indoors in Phoenix. Hopefully when they get the Band 12 here it will help

I pay about $5 more for VZW than I did Tmobile. I pay $91 a month for 6gb data and two phones. This is just the service. On Tmobile it was almost the same price

I use the Veterans discount. It's on data and accessories.

Wow. I'm paying $100 for 4 lines all with 10 GB. Been really happy with Tmo but then again I'm in Seattle where the HQ is. And back to topic of the freebies. I'm stacking the VUDU rentals. Used my promos for frosties and Pizza when it existed. Used the Lyft ride coupons for all 4 lines. It's been great if you use them.

I don't believe they stack. They last till the next week and expire (so basically 1 per week like they say).
I was able to stack 2 of mine yesterday. One I got from the app and the second came in a text from Tmo that gave an extra code for all of this week's gifts.

OH .. I thought he meant keeps and hanging on to them. If you stack the ones from each line then yes that would make sense :).

I think you could stack the codes if you used a combo of vkty & vktb or something like that. The first 4 digits couldn't be the same.

Last week, I tried to put my wife's VUDU on my acct and it said I've reached the limit for redeeming the code. So I made a VUDU acct for her and can claim it there.

This week was the first week I was going to claim the Frosty and the guy didn't require me to hit redeem to count the timer. Thought about going to the next wendy's about 2 miles away, but opted against it as I wanted to get home (10pm). will try next week. Stinks that the movie ticket was only yesterday and today's showings....

4 lines for family on TMO. Just used Tuesday app to "purchase" 4 free tickets (one for each line) to movie theater tonight. Saved me $51 !!

I used the free medium pizza from Domino's twice before they discontinued it. Last night I used the Fandango free movie ticket.

I stacked the codes of my 4 family members lines into my Vudu account for the first 2 weeks without any issues, I haven't been able to do it for the past 2 weeks. I thought at first that it was because I always do this at first thing in the morning when I wake up to go to work (5am) but hasn't worked for me anymore even at 5:00am.
