Hi,

Searching the Market for an app to click the screen to turn it off. Found Screen Off and Lock but when I go to activate it it tells me:
_________

Activating this administrator will allow the application Screen off and Lock to perform the following operations:

Force Lock
Control when your device locks, requiring that you re-enter your password.

_________

Uhhh, I'm not aware that I have a password so I wouldn't be able to enter one if I had to. So now I'm afraid to totally activate it for fear I may be locked out of my phone by an app with no way to get in.

Anyone have experience w/this app?

I also would like to find one that will wake the screen up by tapping it, but I'm guessing that isn't find-able cuz it's not possible?

Thanks!

I use it and love it. In the preferences, I disable the lock screen. So pressing the Screen Off and Lock app only turns the screen off.

I also set up long press on search key to activate the screen off.

its about preference, if your focus is on the screen and you have an app to push to turn off screen; then why not.

Reasonable. I hold the phone in my left hand with my left index finger near the pwr button so it takes nothing for me to use that, and I prefer not having things on the phone that are already covered unless, like the default browser, they suck.

i really liked on the fascinate that the off button was on the side. I dont like going to the top to turn the phone on.

Why don't you just lightly push the power button instead?

Because sometimes it would be more convenient to just click on the screen. I fumble w/the button sometimes because it doesn't stick up from the phone very much - almost flush and I find I have to sometimes physically pick it up to do this. Call me uncoordinated I guess.

I'm guessing once you get used to the new position it won't bother you at all. Just a matter of time to switch from one side to the other is what I'm thinking.

So what you're saying is I don't need an additional app for this? I'm still learning so please forgive my learning curve questions. I *think* I added an app to switch off the screen lock slider thing, I'll have to look for that and if I don't need it get rid of it.
