Anyone using Clean DJ05 and Nuance Voice Commands

Hi all,

I made the move to DJ05 and with all of JT Clean Rom's, I add back:

Nuance Voice Commands - vsuite.apk
Thinkfree Office - thinkdroid.apk
All Share - dlna.apk

This worked great on DI01 but DJ05 seems to not like this method. Would there be another app that would allow these to work as they did before? Voice commands opens and then shuts down. All share appears to work but does not connect.

A guy in another forum posted that he loaded the full DJ05 and got voice commands back but I really don't want to go there...

Thanks,

Well, I noticed that clean .3 had a few more apk's than .6 so I flashed it and it looks like voice commands work again.

Maybe no one uses this but just in case.

Thanks

I was using .6 for a day, but it was giving me fits with GPS locks. Now I am just running stock deodexed and have voice, office, and just removed the bloat.

I figured I'd ask here.

I'm using super clean mod. and I would like to reinstall Nuance..

what are the minimum files I need to install for voice command to work and where can I get them.?

You would need a deodexed version of Nuance and then adb push to your phone. I believe there is a deodexed system dump available at XDA.

IF you are on dj05, you will need to go to clean .3 or run the full dj05. On di01, just add the vsuite.apk. I was thinking that there was no.odex for the vsuite app.

this is correct; the VsuiteApp.apk (Nuance Voice Commands) has no odex to begin with so you can add just the .apk back to a deodexed ROM if needed. Just did it on my DI01.04 w/ JT Super Clean v.4, JT nv 11/11 kernel and it runs just find. Keep in mind some commands won't work if the corresponding stock app is missing. For example "Play (playlist)" fc's since the stock music player is gone. But it works for calling which is why I wanted it so I can use my Bluetooth hands free in the car and make calls, etc.

one slight clarification, there IS a deodexed system dump on XDA (RELEASE: Deodex'ed DI01 System. (Flashable through Clockwork) - xda-developers) BUT it only has deodexed files, meaning the apps that don't utilize odex like Vsuite are NOT in the dump. You have to get it from the original fascinate system dump referred to here (http://forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/32839-fascinate-system-dump.html#post326764) and now located here (fascinate_sys_dump.zip). If you haven't already, it's a good idea to snag a hold to it so you have it when you need it and don't have to go huntin or askin for it.

I have DJ05 and want to add JT's newest ROM - .08 or .09 but I really would like to have Nuance. Is there a way to add Nuance to the latest DJ05 ROM's?

not sure about that. have you tried vlingo? i like it much better, its free on the market. i like that i can dictate and entire paragraphs to it and it wont cut you off.

I have not figured out a way except for using the older dj05 clean .3. I loaded .8 yesterday to test it and the app opens and shuts down immediately. I don't use it every day so I am going to try this worth the 12/15 stupid fast kernel. Trying to see which has the best battery life for me.

Vlingo is a more robust app for sure, but I like the simplicity of Nuance for quick calls on my bluetooth. I can't seem to get Vlingo to unlock the screen and make a simple call when clicking my BT button on my ear piece. Nuance does this part very well. Maybe I am just not setting it up right.

you know i havent tried the bt head set. i am gonna have to give that a try. have you tried some of the other voice command apps on the market. depending on how big of a nerd you are, there is the star trek combadge, i beleive it has a bt option. you can tell it what to do when you press a certian button. i am not totaly sure on the bt option though. i like to press the button and hear the chirping sound the combadge makes. yes, i am a nerd, but my wife loves me anyway. :-)

Coming from a D1, BT voice commands were non-existant before 2.2 Froyo. Going to the SF with 2.1, I was happy to see the BT voice commands working. Just sucks to lose it but I like the clean rom.

I have tried looking at .3 Clean and comparing the apk's on it vs the ones in .8 but I am not sure it is that easy.

Would be nice to get that added to one of JT's ROM's. It is a nice feature to have and is holding me back from a JT ROM. I had .04 on DJ01, but really missed the voice command features. Even though I have the bloat now, I am happy to have this feature back.

you could always install the dj05 stock rom and uninstall all the stuff you dont want. it takes longer but then you would get your nuance.

I have DJ05 now and everything is stock. Works fine and I have Nuance, but I really like JT's ROM's to get rid of all the bloat. If I can get Nuance back with JT's ROM, that would be great.

he may update it sometime. i noticed that i could not get themes to download through rom manager. i keep getting error could not connect or something like that.

About that (notice how I am using a related forum), does jt s. 9 support themes from rom manager or do the themes need to be updated for. 9
