If he likes iOS, why should he bother? Simply, iPhones are great if you want Apple services; Pixels are great if you want Google services. I choose Android because I prefer Google's services, and although the iPhone can use Google services, integration between iOS and Google services is not possible on the iPhone because Apple (understandably) wants to shove Apple services down your throat.

How so? I have experienced a better Google experience on iPhone than on Android.

I have the 7 Plus for work and the Pixel XL for private use. I like them equally - both excellent phones. The Pixel is easily the best Android phone I've ever used. Maybe not as feature-rich as others, but much more solid

Each Nexus that I tried always had some fatal flaw (usually the camera). I have a Pixel and I have to say, I haven't found any fatal flaws with it. The camera is awesome, battery life has been great for me, and it is super fast.

The other things that has made me want to choose the Pixel over staying with my iPhone 6s Plus is Android Auto. I recently got a new car that has CarPlay and Android Auto support. With my iPhone, I would connect it, but it was basically no better than bluetooth for me. I don't use Apple Music or Apple Maps, so I had to control music and GPS with the phone. With Android Auto, I use Google Maps and Play Music (as well as other services like Tune In) right on the car's touch screen. I can also control all of it with my voice as well. For my usage it works so much better than CarPlay.

THIS!!! My 2016 Honda Accord uses both but I much prefer Android Auto. I do still use Apple Music though. And yes the Pix seems to be the best Android phone I've ever used. Even better than the N7.

The few things that keep me on iOS are iMessage, native mail app (never liked the android options), and Touch ID is supported in most of the iOS apps which is very useful. When I had the s7 edge, the majority of android apps still lagged behind in supporting fingerprint authentication.

App lock let's you lock any app on Android with fingerprint. I love it it's very fast and works as if it's integrated by default.

I agree with you both, the Iphone keyboard is the easiest to use.

I literally hate the iPhone keyboard coming from swiping on a Google keyboard. I hate that you can't reach the numbers unless you shift. I also hate password entry and how you don't get a choice to see what you've entered. I'll never understand a phone/app forcing me to hide my own password from myself. Nothing pisses me off more than that.

I literally hate the iPhone keyboard coming from swiping on a Google keyboard. I hate that you can't reach the numbers unless you shift. The Google keyboard is really amazing. I love the gesture typing. However, for thumb typing, I prefer the iOS keyboard. It is the most accurate for me.

I really love the BlackBerry Keyboard and it will be the first thing I install once my Pixel shows up from Verizon. Swiping has been added into that keyboard as well now but I stick to the "typing" and flicking the words up onto the screen. It's the closest experience I've found to the iPhone keyboard on Android.

App lock let's you lock any app on Android with fingerprint. I love it it's very fast and works as if it's integrated by default.

I'm not sure that would work with my banking apps for example. I'll use my bank and Discover Card as reference. On my iPhone, they both utilize Touch ID to long on. But for my Pixel, they make you enter a PIN, which is easier than the password but why not let us use the FPS?

A few other more minor things are simply that the system isn't as user friendly and fluid as android. For example, I use my phone for my small business on which I have a chat widget (tawk.to) which will allow customers to chat directly w/ me via the widget and an app on my phone. Well with android not only would the phone sound the alert and show up on the lock screen, it would also show up a symbol on the top of the notification bar when browsing in any other app you happened to be in (say google chrome). This the same for emails and texting. On the iphone I have to go to the home screen to see if there have been any alerts overlayed on the app itself... there is no symbol present in the notification bar to alert me that I missed someone trying to chat w/ me until I have to pull it down to see for myself.

I bought an iPhone 7 a couple days ago and this is a complaint of mine as well. No notification LED, no notification icons in the status bar, and where the notifications appear aren't consistent, even though i have them set up correctly in settings. I got an Amazon notification earlier that I didn't even see until and hour after. It didn't show in the lock screen, didn't have a number badge on the app (which also doesn't help if the app is on a different page than your home screen). The only way to see it was if I swiped down on the status bar.

There are things that work better, like selecting text with the magnifying glass or force touching the keyboard and getting the cursor you can control like a mouse.

I've heard a lot about apps being better, but haven't really seen any apps that are drastically different, Although I do the love the touch ID being more widely integrated.

I don't think I am going to stick with iPhone. Been on Android for 6 years and I thought it would be a good time to change. I don't think that's the case for me.

Swiftkey is an awesome keyboard but the thing that made me switch back to the Google Keyboard is the gif button. I like using gifs and having it directly accessible from the keyboard is super convenient.

I am a huge SwiftKey Neural keyboard fan, but I am really enjoying the GIFs on Google Keyboard as well. I don't like how many presses it takes to get to the ?, which kills me. SwfitKey has a really natural way to get to all of the special characters I use, and that normally brings me back.

Elsewhere I have seen several folks that peg the iOS keyboard as tops, which shocks me. That was one of the early reasons I did not like iOS. Their keyboard kills me. Every time I use it on my wife's phone or on my iPad I feel tormented.

I did the exact opposite.

Here's my take. I've been an Android FanBoy since 2008 when the first device was released. I've have 4 or 5 DIFFERENT Android devices each year since that time. Each year, everything improved.... come 2015/2016, the Nexus 6P was, by far, the best Android phone I have ever laid my techy paws on - and it was priced under $400 brand new. It was the best of all worlds.

Now, the Pixel comes out with many staples (stereo, or even. DECENT speaker to be the most obvious omission) are missing and they jack the price up; way up.

It hit me that Google was charging a current-generation iPhone price for a first-generation guinea pig device.

For the first time in my life, I purchased an Apple Product. The iPhone 7 Plus 256GB to be precise. It already feels better and out performs anything I've used from Android.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it since i always bashed Apple, but this device is simply stunning. I can do everything in half the time that it took me to do with Android.

I don't miss the ROMmig and Modding, because everything just works.

YMMV for sure. I won't dispute what you have experienced. I am in the same boat as you as far as being an Android guy. I purchased my first iPhone last month but I didn't find it to do anything faster or better than Android. I like the integration of the hardware and software to one device and some small things that make you smile, but I couldn't do ANYTHING faster on the iPhone. In my opinion:

1. Android's notification system just crushes Apple.
2. I now know I truly love the back button and I don't care which side of the phone it is on. LOL.
3. I love how each app has its own settings and you don't have to come out and go into some general settings to adjust things.
4. Notification light
5. Size. I currently own a GS7 and a GS7 edge. Using the Edge for this example, it just feels better in the hand. I don't have a lot of hand travel to do things.

With that said, I do like the iPhone but it could not be my primary in its current state. It'll be interesting to see what they do next year. I use it only for business now since my company doesn't have Android as an approved BYOD yet.

iPhone keyboard was never as accurate as SwiftKey for me on Android. It just doesn't predict to my typing.

Word flow is the best iPhone Keyboard IMO. Swiftkey for Android but ever since having the Pixel I'm really starting to like the Google Keyboard.

To turn on wifi and Bluetooth on the iPhone don't you just flip up the control center from the bottom? Really no different than swiping from the top to do it.
