OK, since I didn't get to pre-order a Pixel 2 XL (panda at Google Store/Project Fi still sold out), I decided to wait until the holiday shopping season to order. May even suck it up and get the Verizon version, locked bootloader and all. Hope the reward for waiting is any new deals (Mini again? Chromecast Ultra?)

Anyone else waiting?

I'm thinking about it.. but screen issues is a big turnoff at current price.. i don't think there were any deals on the original pixel last year... But with the bad press maybe something will happen this holiday..

I am trying to decide if i should. I want to take advantage of the $300 trade-in for my S7 deal on Verizon. Normally it would be 150 but they have a special right now. Do you think there will be better black friday deals that if i add in my normal trade-in of 150 and the holiday deal will make it better? What did they do for the XL last year?

Well since Google addressed it with upcoming software updates and added an extra year to the warranty it may not go that way.

I thought about cancelling and waiting to reorder during holidays. A) for later hardware revisions and B) for a lower price. However, I got the $300 trade in (normally $120) and a free home mini with my Verizon order. so I didn't think it was going to get any better than that

Is there likely to be a new production batch with these issues fixed by the time I consider upgrading to the 2/XL in a couple of months?

That's an unknown since we don't know if they plan to do anything except software. The software adjustments and better QC might take care of everything so who knows really?

Best Buy has $100 off the regular Pixel 2 with up to $300 trade in on VZW activation right now. Hoping there will be a better deal on Black Friday.

Last year Verizon had a deal of $10/month for 24 months on the base model Pixel (32GB) on Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend. Best Buy also had a $100 gift card deal on top of it. We bought it at Best Buy. We were thrilled with that deal!

My daughter badly wanted a Pixel for Christmas, but I was trying to talk her into an iPhone SE, due to price, but that deal made the Pixel a no-brainer!

If I could get the Pixel 2 64gb in kinda blue for me this year for something like $10/month, I'd be excited.

I doubt you'll see it at a lower price. The Pixel (and Nexus before it) has typically stayed the same in price until near the end of its sales cycle.

Hmmm, I could bite on that kind of a deal if the combination of Verizon and Best Buy does something. I'm on the fence with the locked bootloader, but as I've not unlocked my Nexus 6P in the 2+ years I've had it (I did with the Nexus 5X), it may be a non-issue for me.

I not going to get a Pixel 2 XL. I wouldn't consider it unless Google swapped out LG's poor display for a better one.

I am waiting for a crappy deal on the Pixel 2 though since I was able to get the first generation Pixel from Verizon through Best Buy during Black Friday for $240.

Google offering $350 for my Pixel in trade meant I wasn't going to wait.

If the panda Pixel 2 XL remains out of stock even on Black Friday, I might either cave and get the Just Black version, or look for a original Pixel BF deal to hold me over. I wonder though if Google's exchange program will remain in effect through the holidays for me to trade it in.

I'm waiting to see what kind of deals will be out around the Christmas season, yes. Who knows, maybe Google will dip the price a bit and throw in a free goodie or two!
