i just got the phone i went from iphone 4s to s3. i was wondering if i should root it or not. i read somewhere about ongoing problem about the slow data speeds after root and there is no way to fix that. is that true? how manny people are effected by this issue? is there any other issue with rooting?

This phones doesn't really need root unless there are specific things you need and if that's the case you'll know it and root.

Debating right now on root. External drive is a headache for me. It doesn't really exist on the S3.

Root alone does not impact data speeds, it's the Rom. There is a stock Rom root method. Its worth it to have a back up, WiFi tether and Google wallet.

Don't plan to root. Bloat doesn't affect performance of the phone in any way. Like others have mentioned, you can disable it but I didn't even bother.

What is the point of moving apps to sd card? The phone has plenty of on board memory for hundreds of apps if you need. And the sd card is still available to store media. I would much rather store the apps on the phone and media on sd personally.

12gb is quite a few apps. I have over 100 games/books loaded on my son's CM9 touch pad and it's using around 3gb. Can't imagine how many apps would use 12gb of memory.

GPS navigation apps with preloaded maps take up a ton of space.

I don't really see a need to root my SIII. I had to root my last android because I wanted to flash 2.2 over stock 2.1 which had some major upgrades. I'm fine with ICS, and don't mind waiting for Jelly Bean + I have JB on my tablet.

Most people don't root their phones, probably something like 95% or more. Most of the general public doesn't even know what rooting means.

I'm not rooted, despite also having a VZW Galaxy Nexus running its 4th Jelly Bean ROM. Battery sucks so much on that phone I can't bear to use it, though.

Haven't had a need to root the GS3 yet, though I will if the Light Flow guys fix the LED situation before Samsung does.
