Anyone with new LTE device in Chicagoland area?

I hear ya... Well the original date from s4gru.com was September for a roll out so maybe Sprint will make good on this for us.

I just can't wait to enjoy some LTE around town.. Sure I'll be running with a cable attached to my phone to keep it powered up but that's worth it for high speed surfing after years of 100-500 kbps average download speeds :p

That is impressive TraderGary... I usually keep tabs on the status but had purposely forced myself to forget about it lately hoping the time would go by quicker :p

Nice to see Chicago will go official with the highest of all the markets so far.

They owe it to everyone but for the troubles we have had in Chicago during the upgrades its nice to see were getting a little bonus out of it.

Can't wait. This will finally complete my nexus experience.

Well I woke up this morning to surprisingly have the 4g symbol on my phone. Did a speed test and only got 2.5mbps. Here's to it starting.

Thats good....

No LTE love here in Plainfield.... Earlier this morning I was nearby CrestHill/Joliet and caught the same LTE signal over there I've found for the last month or so...

Here at home (less than 3 miles from the LTE location) ... Same old bottom of the barrel 150 kbps or less 3g speeds :(

Man, I've been longing to see that 4G icon on my SIII for a while now. Can't wait to finally see it, really good news! Still no LTE signal here in Oak Park.

Was out in Forest Park this past Thursday watching the Bears get their heads handed to them by Green Bay (sigh, whole other subject), and was getting some really good 3G speeds.

I agree with you Paul627g, with all the problems that Sprint has had with the upgrades in the Chicagoland area it's nice to see that Chicago has a larger than average completion rate than some other places around the country. Guess I may have to invest in spare battery with all that sweet LTE action coming soon.

Just keeping an update going. Here is my most recent speed test. Plus I also found out that I am getting lte right now in a testing phase. It still isn't suppose to go active officially till next Friday.

Nice... thing I'm liking is the lower ping rates... which means less packet loss and overall better connection.

How did you find out about the test phase?

It was either the article on Engadget or phandroid that had it in there that while the technicians are testing out the lte before it goes live, consumers would be getting as well evidently. Makes sense seeing as I was about a few towns today and not a lot had the 4g turned on yet.

i'm in southern lake county and went as far north as lincolnshire but no LTE for me - hopefully by saturday

I noticed catching a little more LTE signal as I drive around... Still spotty but its an obvious improvement from NO LTE :)

From St. Charles this morning, inside an office building at my kids dentist...

Say one thing it was like a light switch... Leaving St. Charles I got southbound on Kirk Road and roughly 2 miles south of North Ave it went from solid 4g LTE signal bars to instant off down to 1X for about miles before grabbing 3g again...

Crazy...
