Anyone With Preorder Experience through VZW?

I pre-ordered the blackberry pearl and got it a day early. The good thing about this pre-ordering process with the Incredible, is that it actually states online that if you pre-order by 4pm on 4/28, that you will receive the device on 4/29. This is great for people who will not be off from work on 4/29/10.

Sorry if this is obvious, but what is the advantage to preordering from Best Buy vs. Verizon? I'm NE2 if that makes any difference.

They do. I bought my wife a Droid last week and they ported the number. They also have the Cellebrite system to move your personal stuff.
Thanks. I should have been more specific - I was just wondering if they had the ability to transfer numbers in your phone book to the new phone. I don't need my number ported since I'm already on Verizon.

Next question... At the 24-hour Best Buy in Union Square, NYC, will they sell you an Incredible at 12:01 am on 4/19? :)

they should be able to port numbers in store too, but personally i think it's easier to import them into gmail and let the phone sync them up

I heard that people who preordered the iPad sometimes got it later than those who just showed up at the store. Do you think this will be the same way?

it seems like verizon is going to try to get the phones in peoples hands on the 29th if they preorder provided they order by the cutoff date/time for it.

but things do happen, and it could get delivered late..

Will you be able to pre-order on Verizonwireless.com? What if I wanted to port a number in from AT&T? I heard there was a special discount for those who do that?

the reason for this is because they sold out of the initial batch of preorders so those who preordered later had to wait for the second batch, however all the stores were given a certain amount so if you waited on line you could get one on release day.

Here's the breakdown of pluses/minuses of pre-ordering with BBMobile or VZW:

Verizon pluses
- They will honor your NE2 price, taken off the $199 price with 2-yr contract.
- It WILL be in your hands and delivered sometime the day OF the 29th. No earlier, no later

Verizon minuses
- You have to pay the full $299 for 2-yr and mail in the $100 rebate to get the overall $199 price. Me, I don't really consider this a minus, but a lot feel it is

BBMobile pluses
- $100 rebate is taken immediately, so you buy the phone for $199.
- They give you a $50 gift card that you can use towards the purchase of the phone, so it will actually be $149 for 2-yr contract.

BBMobile minuses
- VZW NE2 is NOT honored. I was at one today and was told explicitly. I see over on AndroidForums, some people have the "in's" with their BB salespersons to get them to do it, but for the rest of us, it won't happen
- Pre-order does not guarantee you will get it for sure on the 29th. Most likely you will, but you never know

Thanks nickacs - looks like I"ll preorder with Verizon. On top of that, I have roughly $100 credit from returning my Droid that I tried and returned last month, so I'll want to put that toward the purchase of the Incredible. Hopefully we can preorder tonight!

If you pre-order from VZN online you will pay only $199 as they will give you the $100 off as you place your order

If you wait till 4/29 and go to VZN store you will pay $299 and then you will need to send the $100 mail in rebate form to get $100 back in the form of Debit card

Sorry, your right. I didn't breakdown the VZW part into ordering online vs. going in-store. In-store it's $299 with the $100 rebate mail in, while online the $100 is taken right off for $199.

Thanks for the clarification :)

This is why I always order my new phones online rather than doing it in the stores - I procrastinate too much on filling out rebate paperwork. I much prefer to keep the rebate money in my pocket! :D

Very excited to get my Incredible (pre-ordered online yesterday). This will be my first smart phone as well!

does anyone know if you can bill the phone to your account through the website? or can this only be done via phone / in store

Yeah I preordered- $161 was my total ($299 less $100 instant rebate online, less $50 NE2 discount = $150 + tax).

I still have about $110 credit on my account from returning the Droid within 30 days (knew I was getting another phone anyway so just returned it for credit), so in the end I'm only out of pocket about $50 for the Incredible!

If you have a history of paying your bill on time, you have the option of paying on a CC or having it added to your bill.

I had the option, but chose to go ahead and pay with my debit card right away. :)
