Can't put up with the constant battery drain from lollipop any longer. Is there any way along with good instructions to go back to kitkat on the verizon LG G2. I have searched and not found any clear way to do this where people didn't seem to have a lot of issues. I am somewhat technically savy but still need the step by step instructions to do this. My preference would be to go to the stock kitkat that I had prior to lollipop OTA update. I am hoping it's possible rather than having to go to an iphone to avoid lollipop.

Follow any instructions for using LG's Flash tool to flash KK to the phone. Not the mobile support tool (that uses KDZ files), the flash tool (that uses tot files). The support tool probably works too, but I use the Flash Tool for all LG phones and it works. (After installing the driver in the computer, plug the phone in when it's in regular Android mode. You'll get the serial port in Device Manager. Change that to port 41. Then it should work when you plug the phone in when it's in download mode.) You may get the flash tool ready but it doesn't do anything (yellow color, but no action). If that happens, just unplug the phone and plug it in again and the tool should take off.

After you do that, reboot to recovery and do a factory reset (so of course make sure that you back everything up first - see Backing up an Android Device).

The problem is that the phone is going to keep trying to update to LP, and eventually it will without asking. So at least root KK. If you don't want to be bothered seeing the messages, freeze ConfigUpdater (you can use Link2SD).

Would you happen to have a good link that is for Verizon's version of the G2 (I have looked at a lot and they all seem to vary). I don't care about backup if it just means i need to re-install apps and lose text messages. Thanks in advance! Also do I need to root the phone first for this? If so a link for that would be helpful that applies to lollipop on verizon lg g2. I am not sure if rooting is needed and if it matters if the instructions are for kitkat, jellybean or the lollipop version that I am stuck with now.

http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW678695432109876543213/VS98024A_11.kdz is a link to the KitKat kdz file. [TOOLS] KitKat 24A Freedom One Click Tools *… | Verizon LG G2 | XDA Forums is a TWRP version for the Verizon model G2 (if you want a custom recovery).

Some of the links at Downgrade LG G2 to stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat - How to are broken, but everything seems to be good for the Verizon model. Look on XDA for a link to the flash tool - that link is broken.

You root the ROM, so if you're replacing the current ROM, rooting it first is like washing your hands before they get dirty.

if it matters if the instructions are for kitkat, jellybean or the lollipop version that I am stuck with now.
When you flash a ROM, it doesn't matter which one is currently in the phone (unless it's a Samsung on AT&T or Verizon - they can't be backed past a major version number) - you're completely wiping out the current ROM, so all that matters is whether the download mode on the phone works. (I think that's power off, then volume up and plug in the USB cable for LG. The word Update will appear on the screen.) That's all you need - from that point, if you've installed the drivers, run the flash tool and point it to the dll and tot files and click the yellow arrow. If it doesn't start after checking the files, pull the phone cable out and plug it in again.

Wifey went against my advice and updated to 5.0. I'm thinking about going back myself.
