Is there any way to hide pictures saved on the SD card? I get some 'interesting' pictures sent to me from a friend from time to time, and I'd like to save them, but I don't want someone running across them when looking through the gallery. Is there any way to exclude them from the gallery, or hide them?

I used to be able to do that in my Storm. I'd hate to think that the Storm actually had functionality that the Droid doesn't.

Why don't you just create a folder and call it "Not Porn", that'll throw people off the scent... :)

Seriously, I tooled around with Astro looking for a Hide folder option and I have no idea. Good luck.

Ive run into a similar situation,.. you will need Astro (or something similar... Im using astro) create a new folder with a period in front of it using astro such as .interestingpictures and the folder or contents will not show up in the gallery... move your pictures to .interestingpictures it will only be accessable through Astro... then send them to me!! ;)

Hide Pictures

OK how do you hide pictures? I have some pictures on my MC that i don't want my kids to see (they like playing with my phones). I have gone through the explorer in Windows and hide the folder they are in and the files them selves but they still show on the Droid.

TIA

If you put a period in front of a new folder, like this: .pictures

They wont show in the gallery but will still be access able through astro.

Thx Chuck. It works for me. Only thing that kind of sucks is if you use Astro to create the folder it will no longer see it. I created the folder then had to browse to it on my computer to see it.

If you have Astro, Root Explorer or any other File Explorer just rename the folder that contains your NSFE pics to a name (preceded by a period) that the gallery wont look into: ( ex. hotpics would be renamed to .hotpics ) and the gallery will not look in that folder for images.

Once you create a folder with a . in front of it (such as .foldername) it will hide whatever you put in it from the gallery but it will also hide it in Astro.

To get it to show up in Astro all you have to do is hit the menu button, view, change view, Set Directory Option, then check the box next to Show Hidden Files.

That will make it so the items in the folder won't be in the gallery but will be viewable in Astro. :)

I have a similar question, but I don't think the same answer will fix it. Several apps that I have installed, have installed graphic files to the card. These show up in Gallery. Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

Try File Cover, which you can find in the market. The free version will hide a dozen images from the gallery. The pay version ($.99) is unlimited. Simple and works well.

For ASTRO, would I need to put "other" pics in the folder I create via my PC? I was playing around with the app and didn't see an option for moving the pic on my phone.

Also, does naming the file ".name" only hide it from the phone?
