Anyway to sim unlock for free on rooted Optimus G?

Hey folks, doing this for a friend (sorry im a samsung guy lol). Anyways I have a brand new old stock optimus g and I've just rooted it fine etc. Wondering if there is a free app or method to unlock to be able to use with a different carrier? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That was my next step. everything I've seen so far is. Sites charging 1-15 bucks.
