AOD Burn In Concern

Like anything else that is subject to burn in, any static images can cause issue. Be mindful of it and vary your usage and you will be fine. For example, rotating the phone to play games, or watch video. I wish we had better control over the top notification bar so that we could hide it like the navigation bar. That would help curb the image retention and burn in from the clock, wifi, etc.

My S7E has burn in, but not from the AOD, but from the information displayed at the top of the screen.

I've seen a friends with burn in. But he had his brightness cranked up. I don't have burn in on mine at all but I always keep my brightness below half.

There is so much in life to be concerned about. Don't be concerned about things which is not your job to be concerned of. It's Samsung job, and you paid a premium price for it. So the least you except is that they won't let a screen burn this time, considering the phone was literally on fire last year. lol Now, let's worry about how to help hundreds of people dying of hunger, and the people who are just hit by Hurricane Harvey and Irma.

Were all those 13 phones Samsung? Because AOD on Samsung first came out with the S7. On Samsung phones with AOD type screens have no need to worry about burn ins because they're LCDs. Only OLED type screens have burn in issues, and Samsung and the v30 so far are the only OLED type phones AFAIK.

??? Samsung has been using AMOLED screens in all of their Galaxy phones (Note and S) since inception.

Did I say they didn't? I had them since the first Galaxy S. I only said Samsung only had AOD recently, on the S7. You can't have AOD burn in on a Note 2 if the Note doesn't have AOD in the first place.

I read too quickly and misunderstood what you said.

I never use AOD. Actually, I find it rather annoying. So I shut it off. It saves a bit of battery, and I won't have to worry about any burn-in.

Burn in is far more likely to happen outwith the Always On Display.

The waze app orange icon burned into my s8 plus. Verizon swapped it out. Drove for 3 hrs each way and it happened.
