I got my S10+ and took it and my S8 to my local AT&T store to begin setting up the S10+. I guess I was expecting that the Samsung Smart Switch app would be used and that I would have the opportunity to select what apps I wanted to install.
Instead, I ended up performing a backup to the Samsung Cloud and then I believe on the S10+, the cloud app was launched and it located the S8. Apps began transferring, but very slowly. Apparently there were 100 total apps. I guess the 100 accounts for the Samsung apps, the carrier apps, and then the apps that I have added over time.
Unfortunately, the apps would only transfer over WiFi. In order for all of the apps to transfer, it would have meant staying at the AT&T store past closing time. I made a few stops after leaving the AT&T store, so I took the opportunity to connect to WiFi spots at each of the stops. I got home and connected to my home WiFi. It was an hour or so later, that I noticed the notification settings that the download seemed to be stuck at 87 of 100. After moving the notification window around, I saw that 13 had failed. What 13 failed is something that will have to remain a mystery.
The play store doesn't show any indication of failed apps. Nowhere that I can see on the phone is there an indication of an app install failure. I did have the foresight to write down apps that I wanted to install on the new phone, and all seem to be accounted for. It would be nice to know what supposedly failed.
