App cause of battery drain?

I have not been pleased with my battery life of my Samsung S9+ ever since I got it back in March. On average, Screen on Time 3 hours. Definitely does not last me the entire day as I am having to charge it up by 4pm after being off the charger for around 8 hours.

I am wondering if the cause of the battery drain is because of an app? If so, what tools can I use to determine if it's an app that is causing it? I have both app, GSAM battery and AccuBattery, however I am not sure if it clearly shows the information I need. Would Nova Launcher be a culprit?

Any help would be appreciated.

Wish I were tech savvy enough to tell you how to pinpoint the drain. Before using Microsoft Launcher, I used Nova Prime for 5 years and never experienced battery drain. Good luck.

Go to Settings, Device Maintenance, Battery, Battery Usage. You should be able to see the apps and their usage.

Doesn't quite show much. Just shows the apps that I've been using. Nothing in the high % to cause a concern.

Why does my battery drain so quickly then?

Turn off background activity for Instagram and Facebook...

Do you need twoextra battery monitoring apps? And trust Accu? I go for less, fewer cooks, fewer problems.

IG seems ok, but FB can run a phone down, it is always running in background no matter what.

Drop any battery monitors. They can interfere with Doze and your phone may not go to deep sleep when not in use.

Between GSAM and Accu, which is preferred? I was using GSAM, but decided to try Accu because it does show app power usage, which, btw, nova launcher is always on top, but that is expected no?

Yep, all those settings were set already.

If it's not apps that is causing battery drain, what could it be? By phone does run hot on a daily basis, which has been happening for the past week. So i figured it could be an app causing the CPU to over load, which causes the overheating. However, I cannot seem to pin point the cause.

You still haven't posted the screenshot of battery usage. Cleared your cache and rebooted?

I use Facebook Lite because of the reports that FB causes battery drain. But I've been using FB lite ever since I got my phone, but my battery still doesn't last as long as all others have been reporting.

I cannot find the option to turn off background activity for apps though. Where can I find that?

When mine did that wiping cache and it settled down. It shouldn't be doing that except briefly during games or video.

Apps : 3 dots : Special Access : Optomize Battery Usage

I imagine also Device Maintenance Battery to set app to sleep, alert if using a lot.

Developer Options, limit number of apps - standard, 4, or none (kill all processes when it is not longer foreground and us sent to background - very agressive and interfered with normal functioning).

It isn't the normal app but runaway apps and tasks that don't confirm and may not behave. And at worst, hidden task.

Go to battery. And click on the app. Its located below.

Sadly there is so much stuff loaded on a Samsung phone (that cannot be removed) it is very hard to tell what is causing a problem. Even with GsAm most stuff still hides in android system so it is hard to tell.

U spent an entire afternoon looking for a good "Top" process utility.

Us there one? I thought one was promising command line tool.
