AT&T Galaxy S8 App icon on new page

So, lately when I install a new app, the icon gets placed on a new page (by itself on a new screen) even though I have plenty of space on other pages. Have I accidentally turned something on?

There are a couple of threads about this same issue. I think the launcher places the new icon on the first screen where the bottom right area is free. Let me check.

Open Google Play -> Settings -> Uncheck the "Add icon to Home screen" box.

First thing I do when I set up a new phone and open Play store.
