App notifications do not clear up automatically

I have been having this weird issue with apps that show notifications in the notification panel. Examples -

1. GMail - New email notifications do not go away automatically, even when I delete the email from the app. I tried Outlook and Alto for emails, same issue.
2. Hangouts - New message notifications do not go away automatically, even when I read/reply to the message from the app.
3. Google Voice - New message/voicemail notifications do not go away automatically, even when I read/reply to the message from the app.

I reset the notification options in Settings->Notifications->Reset app preferences, but the issue persists. I have not seen this issue on my other android phones, although they are on older OS versions and not 7.1.1

Has anyone noticed this issue with their Essential phone?

No issues here. I'm using BlackBerry Hub for email, BlackBerry Calendar for calendar (lol), the stock phone dialer and Yaata for SMS/MMS and all clear out notifications just fine. The only issue I had previously was a bug in BB Calendar where deleting a calendar event didn't delete the associated notification. But, that's happened on both the BB KEYone and PH-1 so it's either in 7.1.1 or the app itself.

Did you originally set your phone up new or was it restored from any app or settings backups?

I haven't seen this either, using Nine email for exchange and iCloud email and then the built in google calendar. All seems to be working normally.

I set it up as a new phone.
I am currently using BB Hub as well since last night, since my last phone was a BB Priv and loved the way Hub worked on it. I haven't seen that issue with Hub so far.
