App settings not removed when uninstalling an app

Hi,

I have an app that are giving me error messages. I decided to uninstall it to start over and set it up again. However, when I install it again my old setting are still there. I know since I set custom colors etc. I have tried to delete everything related to the app from my phone but it still remembers the last settings and I can't get rid of my problem. Any idea where the app could store settings outside of the stuff it puts in the Android/Data/com.app.name folders?

Have you tried going under settings>apps & notifications>apps>selecting the app from the list then under the app select storage and clear the data and cache for that particular app..
Hopefully that helps.

Does this app have cloud backup tied to your Google account? That would allow it to automatically restore settings from the cloud when you reinstalled it.

It now turns out that the one asking whether the app was compatible with my phone was on to something. Turns out the GDrive plugin is not compatible with Oreo and my phone recently got updated to android 8.1. I simply forgot I had to uninstall the plugin as well or settings would be retained in the non working GDrive plugin. Thank you all for trying to figure this out. I now have to use another file manager until the Ghost Commander GDrive plugin works with Oreo.
