App size to delete redo vs update

I've noticed that most times an App will say its size, but then one dowloaded the app will be quite a bit bigger then Play mentioned.

Now Im wondering. Is it better to delete and re-install an App because just updating keeps all info since your first download were as a deleted and fresh download my no long hold old info keeping the overall size of the app lower?
Or is that a false theory of mine?

Update sizes are not for the full app (just the update portion), and the Play Store does use almost twice as much space when installing an app/updating it as the app itself (one time to download, second time to decompress/install/handle). Plus, the reported size on your phone now includes temporary files and extra ones that the app might have created. The app install/update cache will eventually be deleted and only the app itself will remain.
