I've noticed that comes from taking a picture toward the sun or glare.

I think the problem for me is that sometimes adjusting the settings for each shot takes too much time and effort. Sometimes you just want to take a pic and run. (taking pictures from a car or if you need to capture something very quickly)

That's definitely true. But at the same time the pictures are more than suffice for simple point and shoot situations. Maybe not perfect, but decent. But even with the most expensive and fancy camera, if you want the best possible pictures you have to adjust the settings. It's not fair to knock the camera on the Evo 3D when the stock settings dont come close to showing its full potential

Umm, the reviewer seemed to focus on capabilities over quality, so yeah, the Evo 3d being to the only 3d phone would be on that list. For the record, the Evo 3d camera is not a terrible camera, but it would have been nicer if the Evo 3d would have been an Evo 4g2 and had a serious 8 mp, or higher, camera instead of the 3d gimic. However, some people do like the 3d aspect, so it seems to be a matter of taste.

It's not the mp that determines a good camera, rather its the lens quality. Look at the iPhone. Higher mp are better for viewing images on a large scale.

Well, it is both; while I agree that there can be somewhat bad cameras with high resolutions, a great camera would have both quality and high resolution.

Love the phone, no doubt the camera is mediocre at best. The writer is smoking crack and disillusioned by the 3D gimmick (which is great, but not a measure of actual 2D image quality).
The camera suffers terribly from greenish tint/hue at low light and very low dynamic range which makes daytime pictures horrid due to not handle sunlight well.

I have found that you have to adjust to each phone and the best method for taking pictures. It took me quite a while to be able to take decent pictures on the EVO 4G because I would move and it would blur. I have found that the dedicated camera button on the 3D works well for me and I haven't had that problem so much. Also the 3D takes very good motion shots, way better than I expected. I am no professional by any means but I take lots of pictures in both 2 and 3D and imho they turn out great for the most part. Lol, any problems I have had are ID10T errors

I think a great camera is a camera that is capable of taking a great picture. IMO the 3d is only capable of taking a great picture in optimal conditions. The 4g definitely had a better camera.

I do not understand. I was just trying to take some simple pictures of my dogs and the shutter lag was so long I was not able to get one good picture. The color is also way off in certain situations. This is by far the worst camera phone I have every had. I love the rest of the phone or I would take it back. I am so unhappy with the camera that I would use some explatives, but I don't want to get thrown out of the forums. I can't understand how you people can just down right lie about how good the camera is. I've heard of Apple fanboys. Is that what is happening here. Do you want your Android powered phone to be so good that you have to lie to yourselves!

Perhaps you have a bad phone, perhaps the colors are fine and you think they aren't. Who knows? Everyone's mileage varies. My E3D takes great pics and there's no fanboyism involved. I've owned Windows Mobile, WP7, iOS, WebOS, and Symbian phones. Each had strengths and weaknesses. I've even had 2 of the same phone at the same time and 1 performed better than the other. So to call people liars because they think their phone takes wonderful pictures is bit much. Your phone takes crappy pictures, sorry to hear it! :'(

some people can't see beyond the megapixel count. i had an old Sony camera from about a decade ago that was 1.2 megapixels and it took better pics than my new 10 megapixel camera. it's all about the optics.

Nobody is "lying" about anything.You're just either blind, or purposely choose to be ignorant on the subject. Learn to adust the settings. Period. The stock settings are absolutely horrible. The images are always overexposed, blurry and not that great in color. But adjusting the settings can significantly change the picture quality. Either you skipped thru most of this thread and missed the pictures I took comparing stock settings and adjusted settings or you're just execting Nikkon type image quality out of a mobile phone which is ridiculous. The issue with the 3VO is not the camera itself, it's HTC's horrible camear software. You people need to get this thru your heads already..
And one more thing..
The pictures on the 3D blow the 4G's away.. <<<<<<<------------- FACT
Go ahead and post a low light picture with the 4G so I an laugh at it and make fun of it having more noise in it than a Lady Gaga concert.

I did mess with my camera settings too, it helped. I just don't know enough on what to change lol.
