Apple to Android Not Receiving Texts

This is a little different issue than everyone else is having. Years ago I had an ipod touch and would use imessage with my iPhone buddies. There was never a phone number or SIM card associated with it. 4 years ago I bought an android phone - have had only android phones since.

This week ios updated and now I can't get SMS from my iPhone friends. But I can still get MMS. (Weird, right? )

So here is what we have done so far:
1. She has turned off imessage, deleted my contact info, deleted our text conversation.

2. I fired up the old ipod turned off both imessage and FaceTime. Also went to the apple website to deregister my number with them altogether. Apple says my phone number is not associated with imessage (and it should not have been)

Still no incoming SMS from my bestie.

Ideas? I have a galaxy S4

Never used an iAnything, but as I understand it, there's a checkbox in iMessage to "send as SMS", and that has to be checked for at least one message for the iPhone (or iPad or iPod) to "remember" to send as SMS, not as iMessage. Otherwise, you can also try on our Apple Devices forum iPhone, iPad, iPod Forums at iMore.com.

Hahaha! Yeah. ...after owning an android I'll never go back to an iAnything either. Apparently Apple haunts you for life.

I'll check the other forums too.
