Apples WWDC is June 7th, how will Sprint time the Evos launch?

With speculation that Apple is going to release the iPhone 4whatever right after their big whop I bet Sprint has a plan up their sleeve.

I hope your right. Sprint needs to learn from there mistakes from last year with the Pre. Time is critical now and they need to jump on this opportunity and come out with the evo atleast 2 weeks before the new iPhone.

Listen this is no cheap Palm Pre the EVO will sell no matter when they release it. Honestly this device makes the iphone look very boring.

Yes, I understand that everybody is talking about there either getting the Evo or the new iPhone, so which one ever comes out 1st will gain the most momentum.

I don't think it will be to much earlier then the June 1st. Most of the people who bought Pre's are Premier Customers, and that means that most of those people are not eligible for an upgrade till June. I really believe that Sprint is going to really be pushing and using every little thing in its arsenal to make sure that they grab new and existing customers for the EVO

I just spoke to a Best Buy rep. He told me they are doing pre-orders at the end of May. They are expecting the phone to be release before the iphone announcement. So June 6th sounds like a good date to me.
He said the take $50 to hold a phone in the form of a gift card and that card is then used towards the purchase of the phone. He said the pre-ordered 3 droid incredible s and they got 30 phone in stock.
He seemed to know what was going on, but you never know with these reps.

So they got 30 Incredibles in stock on launch?
That sounds good. Hope this is the same but I continue having flashbacks to my last two Sprint devices )':

Reviews will be glowing just as the Incredible's are.

Personally I think the masses will wait for EVO reviews before jumping carriers.

The reviews for the Incredible started showing up about 2 weeks or so before the phone was on sale. By the time everyone is done reading those, they will be doing the same thing to boys and girls over in the Incredible forums were doing...impatiently waiting to be able to pre order the phone, and then worry about having to ditch school or work to make it to their next store early enough to grab one of the few phones in stock.

That's how it panned out for the Incredible, and with the Evos monster screen and hardware specs, that's how it will pan out for the Evo, at least in my humble opinion.

This is just my opinion...

I am not a person who resorts to the idiocy of "sprint you better the release the phone or I am getting an iphone! or incredible!" but you have to see that there is some urgency in releasing the phone.

Noting the mild debacle that was the release of the Pre and its timing surrounding the iphone 3gs, shouldn't sprint make a push to beat the 4g iphone? Look, I am a sprint fan(boy?)...i love my service, love what I pay. I hate to see this company go further down...especially to the inferior network that is AT&T. I fear that a release AFTER the 4g iphone is a recipe for doom/gloom.

I am a realist. There are a lot of average joes who love the iphone cause its "cool" and I would love people to be able to see this powerful/awesome phone for what it is...and that is nothing short of a better alternative/better phone.

Here is hoping sprint thinks like i do. If not, I will wait till June 6/13 to buy the next phone that got smoked (in terms of sales numbers) by the overhyped, narcissistic, proprietary apple machine.

I was out and about last wednesday night, and I swear, every Tom, ****, and Harry had a freaking iPhone. It's all the sheep following the herd. For the most part, they were even clueless on what they can really do with the damn thing and just used it for testing, but....if you wanna be "cool" you gotta have the fruity phone.... so sad.

Following the herd or just a good device? Hmmm... Everyone with a BlackBerry following the herd as well?

Now if this were to appear on multiple carriers... I can see it being huge.

Actually yes. My father, boss and a friend don't know the 1st thing about smartphones but they all knew they needed a Blackberry.

If they "needed" a blackberry that would prove your herd theory wrong. If you need something that doesn't mean you followed anyone... Means you "needed" it for a reason...

Well back on topic....i need the Evo. My Pre has gotten worse since the last update

You just have to listen to the comments from those new iPhone users....they will look at my phone and say "oh...you don't have an iPhone?". No, sorry, I don't have a Fisher Price phone with Kindergarden OS. They don't buy it because of what the phone can do, they buy it because it's the "in" thing to do, because it's "cool". People bought Palm Treos and Blackberrys because texting was becoming more popular and those two phones offered the first QWERTY keyboards.

Why did I switch from a dumb phone to my first smart phone, the HTC Touch on Sprint? Because I saw on the forums just how much you can do with a WinMo phone. Why did I switch to the Palm Pre, because I liked the card system, but mostly because of the integration of the calendar and the whole synergy thing. Why am I now switching to the Evo? Because of the massive screen, the fast cpu (tired of webOS lag), and because HTC took some notes from Palm and integrated things nicely, and because the 7 homescreen with widgets can be compared to having 7 cards open on a Pre, without the lag, and without the TMC error. In other words, I did my research, and I know what I am buying, unlike the sheep that see that everyone else has an iPhone, so they gotta keep up with the Joneses and get one too.

Point is, if you ask the people that I am talking about, the "sheep", they know just about nothing about what their phone can do. They still have the stock apps on their phone, and they never bothered doing the latest updates, and they probably can't even synch with iTunes. And it's those snooty iPhone owners, that look down on whatever phone you might have, a phone that I know everything about, and belittle it just because its not the iPhone, that I refer to as the "sheep", and the "herd" are all the others that are equally clueless.

But, we do have to thank the iPhone for this wonderful flood of new smartphones that let us be such succesful mobile accomplishers, yeah, I stole that line from Dieter Bohn ;)

They "needed" it, notice the "" because Blackberry they've heard "Blackberry" so much the last few years they just associate it with being the best.
Friend wanted a phone that would get her gmail, she got a Storm2.
btw horrible OS, it took us 20minutes just to figure out how to get me in the phone as a contact and edit my info.
I'm going to upgrade my father to a 9650, he's been using my modded Touch Pro, but mentions Blackberry often, Doesn't use it for anything but calls but at least it'll improve his battery life and make him happy.

I've been saying that since it hit. The 800mhz patch made it better but it's still causing lots of issues and the #1 reason I'm so impatient for the Evo right now.

I am having a big discussion over at Precentral about a guy asking the forum member to sell him on the Pre Plus over the Incredible, just in case any of you fellow Pre defectors wanna chime in... am I allowed to post links to other forums?

http://forums.precentral.net/cross-...ll-me-pre-plus-instead-incredible-please.html

Anyhow, some of the guys there are mentioning crappy apps that cause a force close that keep running in the background killing the battery? Others say they don't like having to have a GMail account because of privacy issues, and lastly, they call Android clunky and "unresponsive".

I can't wait for the Evo to come out!

Or they needed it for email...
