You just have to listen to the comments from those new iPhone users....they will look at my phone and say "oh...you don't have an iPhone?". No, sorry, I don't have a Fisher Price phone with Kindergarden OS. They don't buy it because of what the phone can do, they buy it because it's the "in" thing to do, because it's "cool". People bought Palm Treos and Blackberrys because texting was becoming more popular and those two phones offered the first QWERTY keyboards.
Why did I switch from a dumb phone to my first smart phone, the HTC Touch on Sprint? Because I saw on the forums just how much you can do with a WinMo phone. Why did I switch to the Palm Pre, because I liked the card system, but mostly because of the integration of the calendar and the whole synergy thing. Why am I now switching to the Evo? Because of the massive screen, the fast cpu (tired of webOS lag), and because HTC took some notes from Palm and integrated things nicely, and because the 7 homescreen with widgets can be compared to having 7 cards open on a Pre, without the lag, and without the TMC error. In other words, I did my research, and I know what I am buying, unlike the sheep that see that everyone else has an iPhone, so they gotta keep up with the Joneses and get one too.
Point is, if you ask the people that I am talking about, the "sheep", they know just about nothing about what their phone can do. They still have the stock apps on their phone, and they never bothered doing the latest updates, and they probably can't even synch with iTunes. And it's those snooty iPhone owners, that look down on whatever phone you might have, a phone that I know everything about, and belittle it just because its not the iPhone, that I refer to as the "sheep", and the "herd" are all the others that are equally clueless.
But, we do have to thank the iPhone for this wonderful flood of new smartphones that let us be such succesful mobile accomplishers, yeah, I stole that line from Dieter Bohn
