Applockers not active on restart/reboot

I've tried a few applockers now on a lenovo tab4 running android 7.1.1. When turning the device off and on again the applocker doesn't seem to be active since the apps I locked are accessible. If I start the applocker manually it works as expected of course. Any ideas how to solve this?

You should have a setting in the app to autostart on boot...

Believe me, I've looked for that. Tried same thing on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and everything works as expected. Posted question directly to the makers of the apps as well.
