Approach for Moto Display stopped working a while ago. I verified that it's turned on, rebooted and even wiped cache.

I used to be able to see the infrared lights too when it was really dark in the room, now nothing.

Anyone else use this feature?

Works fine here. Try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, sounds like a hardware failure, send it in for repair.

I will save my factory reset for the Marshmallow update.

Not a big deal, just curious if anyone else had the issue, or maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere.

Thanks guys. When I physically move the phone the display lights up with the notifications, but I don't think that's part of Approach.

Maybe I will just do a reset. I haven't yet since I've had this phone.

Hey I know I'm a few months late but did you ever get this solved? I bought a Pure in early May and I have the same issue. IR lights are on steady but Approach just doesn't work at all. Only if I physically pick up or move the phone will the glance screen pop on. I'm wondering if i have a hardware issue that will only get worse. If you see this and you can shoot a quick reply on how you ultimately got it fixed would be appreciated. Love the phone but to have this happen after only two months is frustrating.

An lest anyone ask I have turned 'Approach' on and off a few times and tried rebooting. I haven't tried a reset yet though. I only want to do that as a last resort as setting everything back up is such a pain since I'm not rooted.

Here's the weird thing: it started working last week. After months of it not working, now it does. It's intermittent though. So it might work the first half of the day, then stop working.

I'm going to get a replacement from Moto. Just go to their support page and they will either send out a new one right away, or you can send yours in and wait for the repair.

Yeah I saw that on their page, but I can't really go without a phone for however long that would take (I have a sick family member so I need a phone). I was hoping it was maybe an App I installed or something.

Plus if you send it in how do they check it? I mean, it would have all my data and be locked with my password. Unless they expect me to reset it before I send it in.

You'll have to reset it before sending it in. I did a reset on mine to see if it would fix it and it didn't. But others with this issue say a reset fix it.

If you don't want to be without a phone they will put a $99 hold on your credit card until they receive your old one.

How does that work? They'll send you a replacement phone first?

Thanks for all this info by the way.

They will send you the replacement right away, and put a hold on your card. And they give you a shipping label as well. When they receive your phone they will take the hold off. Your phone has to be in good condition (no screen cracks or anything like that). I'm not sure if the phone they send is new or refurbished though.

So just an update. I figured if I was going to send to them anyway I may as well try a reset and see if that works. Nope. Same deal. After ANY reboot it works for like two minutes and then stops. I fear it will turn into a bigger hardware issue so definitely calling them today.
