Apps disappear

My apps disappear when I rearrange them. What could be the reason for this?

Does just the icon disappear or does it actually uninstall? I've accidentally had a couple of icons delete probably due to some secret way of cleaning up things, but I just went to the Apps in the bottom right corner of the home page and found it.

No it just disappears. I use a launcher and sometimes when I move the apps and widgets, they just vanish and I have to add them again to the screens.
