Apps don't start until I unlock my phone?

Hello

I have a Huawei P20 Lite running Android 8.0

Ever since I've started using this phone I've noticed that after a reboot, when it first starts up, my phone requires me to input my screen lock pin in order to use it, even though I have my fingerprint setup. Only on startup does it do this. This wouldn't be a problem however on the first startup my phone doesn't start any apps. Alarm, notifications, missed calls etc. Nothing.

After the first startup I have to use my pin first, from then I can use my fingerprint and apps will run in the background. I've set my phone to turn off automatically after 1am and then to turn back on at 6am to conserve battery.

If I turn my phone off or it dies during the night and I put it on charge after the fact then it will turn itself on at 6am but I will miss my alarm because I haven't put in my pin code. NOTE this isnt the SIM lock, I've disabled the SIM lock. This is the phone pin lock. Because you need a pin when setting up a fingerprint.

I know this is a nice security feature but I don't like to miss my alarm if my phone turns off. I don't use the built in alarm I use Timely, I don't mind switching but I just prefer to use Timley if I could.

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! This is normal behavior -- upon a cold start, the phone will prompt the user to enter the PIN to start Android. This means that until the PIN is entered, the system hasn't even started yet. Some phones have an option to turn this off, but if yours doesn't, then it's a security feature that can't be bypassed.

In general, it is not necessary to power your phone completely off, nor should you allow the phone to drain and shut off automatically on a regular basis (which will ruin the battery life if done too often). If you leave the phone powered on but asleep overnight, you won't encounter this problem.

Did you ever find away around this? I also use Timely for my alarm and if my phone restarts itself overnight(does an update) I will miss my alarm as well. I have the OnePlus 6T and don't see a way around this.
