apps from nexus 10 to Galaxy S4

I've just purchased a nexus 10 and a galaxy S4. when I download an app from play store on either device it has sync to all apps on both devices but not installed and I have to manually install them. Is this normal or can I alter a setting so they download automatically.

It varies actually, but most or all apps should automatically install. If not, then there's something wrong with your device's sync settings.
