I apologize in advance if this has been answered. I just picked up the Maxx Hd last night and i'm keeping an eye on my data since i'm new to the phone and ICS (Haven't recieved the JB update yet). My question is, will apps running in the background eat data? I've read that android is designed to shut down apps on its own, but I am concerned about leaking data as I don't won't to turn off background data because I need my email pushed.

Thanks

Honestly, unless you are running some apps like "Dirty Joke of the Day" or something like that I wouldn't worry about it. The data usage will be minimal. However if you are concerned there are a few things you can do. Go to all of your non gmail apps like regular email, facebook, twitter, etc.. and set the refresh rate for as long as you can go.
