Can anyone tell me the names of apps like Adguard that will block in app ads? I was using Adguard , but then it started blocking me to where I couldn't use my data on my phone. Any help us appreciated.

Go to settings, connection, more connection settings. Click private DNS. Fill in dns.adguard.com.

Just curious, does this work across the board, even without using the app?

I created custom filters in AdGuard Pro based on logs, and at one point I needed to first delete cache & data, then uninstall, reinstall - back to normal. Any app over time with lots of updates and changes might need the same.

Yes it does. Ever since Android 9. Users do not need to download the app. Just change the DNS. Unless its on PC.

Youre welcome. Its good for chrome and apps. Even a few games which usually has apps got blocked.

So I just played around with things. The private DNS option does work to some extent, but I did find a few ads that were not blocked by it that the app did block. I was hoping to uninstall the app, but I'm going to leave it for now.

Its not 100% foolproof. But for free it does good enough.

Been looking for an Android ad blocker for a while. Just before installing I noticed that ADGuard is run by Yandex. So instead of having ads you are handing your information to a Russian DNS. Nothing in life is free!

Adgaurd only helps me on my firestick.
I never use it in my phone.
And it works good

Blokada is amazing, you have to sideload it tho as it's not available in play store not sure about iphone

Says on the play store (for Adguard) that it i will block online ads "in Samsung and Yandex" browsers only. Does it work for Chrome, too?

Google doesn't allow general ad blockers in the play store that would interfere with Chrome. The Ad Guard website has the full version of the app to download direct from them, and is updated from within the app itself.

Firefox has an extension for Adguard.
