Apps logging out on Android 11

[Android Central Question]

New phone with Android 11 instead of old with Android 10. The apps which require logging in are automatically logging out after short time... Had no problem with Android 10, these apps we loggeg in from the start of the phone to the shut down / restart. Can anybody advise how to fix that on Android 11? Thanks a lot!

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you mean that the apps are logging your out of your account, such that every time you open them, you have to enter your account name and password for each app again? Or do you mean they're being killed in the background, such that every time you open them, they start fresh instead of from where you last left off?

Yes, exactly!
e.g. eWeLink app, which I use to open/close the garage gates and doors ask me to log inn everytime before use, very inconvienent to log in when driving... and some other apps do the same. Before, with Android 10, these apps kept logged in all the time between the phone start and shutdown/restart.
I think this is due to new Android 11

Thanks for registering and clarifying! That's odd behavior -- it doesn't sound like it's due to Android 11 itself, since this is not something that was universally noted in Android 11 across all devices. But it could be a bug in how Android 11 was implemented by your phone's manufacturer. Which phone do you have?

Do you have any 3rd party battery saver or "RAM booster" apps installed?

No, nothing from 3rd party, all apps from Play store.

This simple procedure has not been so easy as on your describtion, had to watch a few videos on youtube how to get my phone to the recovery mode... the one with headphones worked, just my headphones are not with mini USB so I had to connect another phone to imitate the headphones and that worked. I have gone into the recovery mode and have wiped the cache partition. I will see if that helped to keep my apps logged in all the time and will let you know. Thank you for your help!

Unfortunatelly wiping didn't help, the apps are keeping on logging out... Any more ideas?

Are these all 3rd party apps that are logging out? What about apps that came with the phone? If those are also logging out as well, then see if it also happens in Safe Mode: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/android/samsung-galaxy-a71/safe-mode-samsung-galaxy-a71-5g

I might be wrong, but i understand "3rd party apps" are not from Play store? All of my apps are "stock" or from Play store, none from any other source. The apps which are logging out have been installed from Play store.
I have entered the Safe Mode, but all downloaded and installed apps are "disabled in Safe Mode", so I can not check if these will be logging out or not

No, what I mean by 3rd party apps are any apps you installed that didn't come with the phone. That can include any apps you installed from the Play Store.

Safe Mode disables any app that didn't come preinstalled on the phone. That's why I was asking if it was only 3rd party apps vs apps that came with the phone that were logging out.

One app to try might be Facebook, because I think that comes preinstalled on most Samsung phones. Does that one log you out?

I've got you, thanks. No, Facebook, GMail and other "stock" apps never log out, only installed from Play Store.

To be honest I do not know how to check that.
I have found that only these are on "Sleeping app list": Google, Gmail and WhatsApp - I have no problems with all of them, these never log out

You know how to lock apps to recently used apps list ?
In device care make sure under auto optimization clear apps memory not checked?
