i'm using several streaming apps including npr, slacker, lastfm, grooveshark and wunderradio. if i'm inside and move outside beyond the wifi everything seems to just stop. i thought the process of moving switching from wifi to 3g or vice versa would be seamless. is this a problem for the evo or android? are there settings that i can change to make this work?

Your IP address changes when you switch between networks - therefore you will not be able to maintain a persistent connection to the remote servers you are connecting to. Not an Android/EVO issue, it's just the nature of networking.

so for streaming apps in and out the house and around the yard turning off wifi and using 3g is probably the way to go?

Yes, if you're WiFi signal isn't strong enough to reach all of those places, and you don't want to keep reconnecting manually and/or waiting for the app to attempt to reconnect (I thought WunderRadio did this?), that would be my recommendation.
