Apps suddenly running in background

I've been having a weird problem with my EVO the last few days. First, let me say that I've had my EVO since launch and have always been able to manage my battery life within reason. Lately, my battery has been draining much faster than usual and as it turns out, it seems that most of my apps have suddenly decided to launch themselves in the background. Previously, when I would look at my task killer, I'd maybe have 6-8 apps running, and they were typically ones that were expected. Now, I'm having like 20 running, and it's crazy stuff, like that stupid Nova game. Anyone else have a similar experience?
